This is a rather curious card to me. It seems
to suggest you play a large number of small
creatures, but is itself an expensive
finisher-style creature. I suppose you could
play it as a curve-topping creature with lots of
faster, smaller creatures, but it's very
mana-intensive for that sort of strategy. It's
possible that white has more efficient options
for Glorious Anthem effects, but there may be a
role for this card to play somewhere.
Today's card of the day is Soul of Theros which
is a six mana White 6/6 with Vigilance and for
six mana it can give all of your creatures
+2/+2, First Strike, and Lifelink until end of
turn or for six mana it can be exiled from the
graveyard for the same effect. A six mana
6/6 with Vigilance is decent, much like Sun
Titan, though the Titan or an angel offers more
without the expense of mana. Needing six mana to
activate the effect means it will generally not
be activated the same turn it enters play and
that little if anything else can be cast on the
same turn. It is a reasonable cost for the
effect as First Strike makes attacking or
blocking into it difficult and the life gain can
be noticeable even with just Soul of Theros.
Overall this is a strong card, but the mana cost
and reduced benefit without a swarm will likely
keep it from seeing much play outside of
Multiplayer.
In Limited this is a six mana 6/6 with
beneficial effects which makes it an easy first
pick in Booster while the two White mana in the
casting cost and effects works well for a two
color deck in Sealed. Vigilance and the
potential life gain can make it very difficult
for an opponent to overcome, so it stands out as
both a defensive and offensive threat.
