Time Spiral is getting to be a long time ago,
and some of its hidden gems are even more hidden
now. This is, I feel, one such card. By itself,
it's not the most efficient answer to activated
abilities - Detainment Spell, Faith's Fetters,
and even Squelch probably give you more for
their respective costs in a pure return on
investment sense. But none of those can attack
or block, and none of those are reusable with
the sort of instant-speed spells that other
cards from that era love - Quirion Dryad and
Faerie Tauntings spring to mind. With enough
mana and time, the Husher can nullify a wide
range of opposing effects, and is often a solid
choice for deck space.
Today's card of the day is Voidmage Husher
which is a four mana Blue 2/2 with Flash that
counters an activated ability and can return to
hand when you play a spell. This is more
of a sidedeck choice than maindeck with the
higher mana cost and specialized effect.
When used it offers a repeatable counter to some
major effects, though a more permanent and less
mana intensive option should be preferable
outside of responding to meaningful cost
effects.
In a Limited format with this it belongs in the
sidedeck for the most part as the primary effect
is too situational and a four mana 2/2 with
Flash and a conditional return to hand trigger
doesn't offer enough to really shine. As a
sidedeck choice it can offer a nice response to
key threats and works well as a later on color
pick in Booster when already running Blue.
