Rise of the Eldrazi was one of the most
innovative sets in Magic's history - I
personally hope that Battle for Zendikar brings
some of that spirit, but regardless, a lot of
Rise of the Eldrazi cards have a permanent place
in Magic's history. It's easy for us to forget
now, but in 2010 green was only starting to draw
cards on a regular basis. That's what Ancient
Stirrings is actually doing: it may not be the
mass advantage we usually see in blue or black
spells, but it's equally a tool for getting
something you need from your deck at the time
you need it, and since it will pretty much never
be seen outside a deck with numerous suitable
targets, the end result should always be
satisfactory.
Today's card of the day is Ancient Stirrings
which is a one mana Green spell that lets you
add a colorless card from the top five cards of
your library to your hand. This is
excellent in artifact, eldrazi, or non-basic
land based decks and for the low cost is very
efficient. The onlt drawback is Green not
usually being the color associated with
colorless builds, but as acceleration with this
as support it is a viable alternative to the
more typical Blue/artifact designs.
An interesting card for those playing colorless,
or just looking for a particular land. It's
pretty self-explanatory, thus the short review,
no complicated combos here.
