Let's get the obvious point out of the way: that
this is technically and perhaps literally a
green version of Zombify or Tinker, which for
some reason is nowhere near as famous as either.
The thing that stops it from being as entirely
insane as those cards is the fact that most of
the popular candidates for being cheated
directly into play are not green, except perhaps
Verdant Force, Terastodon, or Progenitus. Decks
built around Zombify or Tinker also tend to be
in colors that have better access to
counterspells or other ways to protect their key
card. Still, Natural Order deserves to be
remembered alongside its opposite-colored
counterparts because of the versatility it
offers: green beatdown decks arguably need an
alternate plan involving a billion-mana-discount
even more than control decks. Heck, even
searching for a Regal Force can be pretty
spectacular.
Today's card of the day is Natural Order which
is a four mana Green sorcery that allows you to
sacrifice a Green creature to search your
library for a Green creature and it put it into
play. This is effectively a Tinker for
Green that can be used to bring out serious
threats like Progenitus, Worldspine Wurm, or any
other of Green's largest creatures very early in
a game. Supported with appropriate targets
and acceleration this is a very powerful card
that is not restricted or banned in older
formats.
Ooh, this is a fun card. Running Elves and want
to turn that Llanowar Elves into a Craterhoof
Behemoth for a kill-shot? You run this card. I'd
come up with some more, but off the top of my
head, that's pretty much it short of Undying
triggers or dying effects. It's a blunt
instrument, but even blunt instruments have
their uses. Loses points for color specifics
though.
