This is one of the strongest defensive creatures
at this cost I've seen recently. A 4/6 that can
block for ever is hard enough for some decks to
deal with. Being unable to attack with their
strongest creature each turn is something many
decks will never be able to overcome. You have
to go around her with swarms or over the top
with flying creatures, and many decks will have
to warp their strategy in the process. For
constructed, not all decks want a purely
defensive creature for six mana, but any that do
will be hard pressed to find a better option
than this card.
Today's card of the day is Sentinel of the
Eternal Watch which is a six mana White 4/6 with
Vigilance and it taps opposing creatures. The
effect at the beginning of their combat is very
strong with preventing attacks and opening up
avenues for your own attack which works well on
a 4/6 with Vigilance. The six mana cost
puts this more into the realms of control,
Multiplayer, or Commander and not the typical
soldier build.
It is unlikely to see much play in one on one
as other options exist at lower mana costs, but
with multiple opponents this becomes noticeably
more efficient.
In Limited this is an easy splashed large
creature with strong effects that can be a
serious threat in the later stages of a game. A
solid first pick in Booster that doesn't lock
the color too heavily and well worth playing in
Sealed unless the mana curve on primary colors
skews too high.
