This is one of my favorite creatures of the
modern era. It's such a small creature, with
such a seemingly small effect, yet it can be so
important in the right deck - an
incremental-advantage deck can hardly ask for
anything more efficient, while a deck that wants
to take advantage of either of its tribes
(Gilt-Leaf Archdruid!) will often find an extra
card or two to make the difference between it
and rival tribes. It's also the perfect example
of its design and color convention, and as such
I'm extra glad that it was in the last core set
to be made (I will always shed tears for that
decision (at least until they decide to bring
core sets back because there's no place to
exemplify design and color conventions)).
This card really only exists to help you dig
through your deck for cards. It's filler, simple
as that. A 1/1 creature is nothing to be excited
by, except this one is an Elf. Elf decks are
quite good at getting a lot of value out of even
the most insignificant Elves, and this lets you
add a body to the table and draw (hopefully)
another Elf to play. Good in Elf tribal, and in
combo decks where every card that isn't your
combo is really just in your way.
