This card is in a rather odd place. As a
beneficial aura, it's not quite aggressive
enough cost-wise to make a major impression
compared to others of that class (and others
require less setup). As a domain card, it's a
little slower and less immediate in impact
compared to things like Tribal Flames or Global
Ruin; it also lacks the surprise potential of
the much later Might of Alara. Still, if you
really wanted to make some sort of five-color
Enchantress deck and needed something on-theme,
this is the card you'd pick; and it does well in
Invasion block limited where decks were on the
slower side and had a lot of incentive to
stretch to four and five colors. It's not a top
pick in a large number of places, but it's
wanted very much in some places, which is all I
ask for in a Magic card.
A buff enchantment for multicolored. Normally
it'll only net you +1/+1 or +2/+2, but has the
possibility of going up to +6/+6. It's neat
though there's plenty better options to be
honest.
Joyeux Mardi Gras mes amis! I'm not sure what
today's card has to do with February's biggest,
most important holiday, but they told me this
was a holiday theme week so I'm going with it.
The domain mechanic was a major part of Magic's
history at one point, but this was not its
finest hour. Getting all the basic land types
out was a pretty big undertaking for the time,
and if you were going to pull it off, you needed
a better reward than this. The real problem was
that Magic cards in general were much weaker
during this stage in Magic's history, so
everything from that time sort of looks like a
foam bat compared to today's sharpened steel.
The Alara block managed to bring Domain back and
make people actually want to run it, but this
clunker just doesn't stand up. Even at its full
bonus, White has better Auras for 3W, and Auras
in general need to be better than this to be
playable.
