I remember Second Guess from Avacyn Restored,
and the sorts of faces people made when they
noticed its curious, and curiously specific,
wording. I never would have guessed that there
was much design space around counting the number
of spells (and I have a feeling Mark Rosewater
will claim that there isn't as much as there
looks, because he always does), but I really
like the surge mechanic, and I'm more eager than
I expected to play with Jori En here. She opens
up interesting possibilities in deck
construction - as though cheap cantrips like
Peek and cost-reducing mechanics like Disrupting
Shoal needed any more help - and is undoubtedly
going to fuel a lot of spell-based decks in
casual and Commander settings for years to come.
Remember that rebound is a keyword in both of
her colors . . .
Here's something for the U/R players, bless
their hearts. it fuels the constant burning
through of one's hand that U/R suffers from, but
can easily backfire from what you draw. again,
legend rule hurts this one a bit.
