I'm so confused about how these devoid cards
count as color pie interpretations. Does Eldrazi
Displacer mean that flickering belongs to
colorless too because of the activation cost? Is
it still a white card because of its mana cost?
But it's a colorless card . . . but it requires
white mana . . . well, maybe it doesn't matter
to flickering decks when it doesn't even require
the Displacer to tap. Or to aggressive white
decks, for that matter - not only does
flickering a creature that's blocking the
Displacer prevent it from dealing damage, but
they decided on making the Displacer a 3/3 for
three!
I don't know why, but ever since last week,
looking at the devoid border texture makes the
back of my mind itch. I do know that 3/3 for 2W
isn't nothing, and an ability that's half blink,
half tap-down is a very nice ability. At three
mana, on of which has to be that unsettling
colorless symbol, it's a bit expensive compared
to Master Decoy or the like, but it's useful in
many more situations, so you get your mana's
worth. A very hard ability to play around in
Limited.
You'd think with a name like this, It'd be some
kind of mage moving eldrazi around to
inconvenient locations, but okay, it's an
eldrazi. Multiple applications, many of which
are fairly obvious. I'm not going to write them
all down, because I don't get paid for this.
