This is one of the new Eldrazi that most makes
me wonder how someone forgot that Eye of Ugin
exists. Worldwake wasn't even that long ago in
an absolute sense! To be fair, World Breaker
would be worth playing even without cards like
the Eye. A creature this size, that removes
almost any non-creature on entrance - and also
doesn't die permanently! - is worth looking at
for most mana costs. Even in a "regular" ramp
deck it feels kind of unfair, and you could
argue that that sort of deck can more easily
spare lands to sacrifice and recast the Breaker.
A massive green creature... that isn't really
green. It's a 5/7 that comes with an automatic
Creeping Mold effect, and has reach to dominate
the board for a while. And if you can generate
colorless mana, you can even bring it back to
your hand after it dies, forcing your opponent
to deal with it all over again! The only trouble
is that it doesn't come down until Turn Seven,
but the Eldrazi have always had ways of getting
big creatures into play
What, did acidic slime not do enough? Get out of
here. Overcosted bull****. Seriously, I don't
care if you have a recursion effect, I don't
care that you exile. This is a waste of a mythic
slot. It's barely worth a rare. I can't be nice
about stuff like this anymore. It seems to be
the way the winds are blowing and it annoys me
as a card player, and enrages me as a consumer.
But I get it. You have to have junk like this to
make the chase rare look even better. But that's
bad business, unless you're dipping your hand in
the secondary market. ...I seem to have gotten
off topic. Sure, people will play it, in tribal,
or whatever. But that doesn't mean I have to
like it. Pedestrian nonsense.
