Force of Will
As an engineer, I sometimes like to joke that
the universal plan B for engineering is to take
a hammer and hit whatever the thing is until it
fits. That's only partly a joke. It works with
IKEA furniture, it can be adapted to computers
by just plugging whatever cable you have into
wherever it can go and stay, and it was famously
used to complete Beijing's Olympic venue on
time. I like to think of Force of Will as the
universal plan B for planeswalkers. It works on
just about anything, and the opportunity cost of
reverting to it is usually worth it; but just as
you should be wary of putting too much force
into your hammering or, sometimes, of putting
too much weight on it for a while, you should
save some of your Fact or Fiction-style cards
when you have to Force something. Blue decks,
like engineers, are solution-oriented, and for
all Force of Will's applications, it's still a
reaction, not a solution per se.
