I've always had a great deal of affection for
this card. It's perhaps the perfect illustration
of black's win-at-all-costs mentality, and
that's coming from someone who's played Dark
Confidant and Greater Gargadon together. I also
like that it has almost the exact same game text
as Demonic Consultation but was dismissed, even
though there are any number of ways to minimize
or protect yourself from the effect. Martyr of
Sands and the like are the most obvious, but
every deck in Commander starts with an enormous
built-in buffer, and we've got a card that
interacts very well with it indeed coming up for
review in a couple of days . . .
