With her game text that uses the word "artifact"
on practically every line, Breya could almost
have been in Antiquities. Seriously, look up
some of the cards from that set and read how
often they talk about artifacts, in case you'd
forgotten what the theme was - it's pretty
funny! Actually, with the versatility of her
activated abilities, she follows in the
footsteps of cards like Triskelion and Tetravus
that adapt to any situation and take over any
game. Don't look at that one red mana in her
cost as an oddity - look at it as taking Esper
to a whole other level.
If you're using Breya, you're using her as part
of an artifact-heavy deck. But she's a versatile
tool that can either kill creatures, ping
players, or just get you healthy amounts of
life. Her body's pretty decent, and bringing 2
Thopters with her is always a worthwhile use of
mana. (Because Thopters are awesome.)
The thing that makes Breya dangerous is a good
supporting base; on her own, she's merely good,
a 4/4 that gets the ability to throw Thopters at
someone. With the right pieces, she becomes very
scary, indeed.
