Kyoki, Sanity's Eclipse

This guy is a rather interesting card to evaluate. The basics are pretty good; you could actually say that about most of Kamigawa's "spiritcraft" cards, assuming a deck that can trigger them, but attacking an opponent's resources is something a lot of decks are willing to devote a lot of space to. He even holds up in larger formats, where there are plenty of available spirits you'll want to play with. The issue is not that, but rather that by the time he hits the table, your opponent may not have any cards to get rid of anyway, especially if you have other resource-attacking cards. Still, the fact that he can keep an opponent in topdeck mode late in the game, and the fact that he's also a demon and thus makes a different set of interactions available, makes him worth considering for the right deck.

Kyoki, Sanity’s Eclipse (8/17)

One of the many legends from Kamigawa block, and an attempt to make a payoff for the Spirit/Arcane deck. The effect is powerful, and the body on Kyoki is pretty acceptable (6/5 for 6 isn't bad). The downside, as always, is that it has little protection and requires a specific shell to make work, some weird black Spirit/Arcane tribal build.

I think Kyoki has potential in, say, a “fun" Commander deck. Lots of cheap spirits, Arcane spells (black has a couple), and some of the Kamigawa-block Demon tribal support might work towards making it fun. And it can smash face if needed. It's too clunky to function outside fun formats, but it can be decently serviceable.
