Avatar of Hope
Fun fact: this is the only creature in Magic
that can naturally block as many or more
creatures than a monstrous Hundred-Handed One.
It was also the first of Prophecy's Avatar cycle
to get a new version in the Eighth Edition card
frames (we're still waiting on Avatar of Will).
It never quite made a big impact in constructed,
not least because its discount condition is the
most dangerous - if you're on three life,
blocking everything coming at you might help,
but you're still vulnerable to the Volcanic
Hammer to the face. I can't rule out that there
wouldn't be a situation where it wouldn't save
your life, though. Nine toughness is enough to
block up to eight creatures and live against
some decks!
