Bontu the Glorified
Amonkhet's black god would have to be Magic's
version of Anubis, with every part of his
mechanic strongly linked to death. I think Bontu
has a huge potential ceiling not only because of
the graveyard interactions and scry (which is
harder to quantify than card advantage but adds
up to a huge deal over a relatively short time),
but because he's the god who most easily enables
himself to attack or block with a single
activation of his ability. Even just one or two
of those cycles can swing a game in favor of a
"regular" black deck, much less some kind
of Innistrad- or Golgari-driven gestalt of
different mechanics.

Bontu the Glorified
Yet again, Bontu has evasion and a hard body to
take down, all for a good price. His turn-on is
a bit hard, though: you need a steady stream of
recursive creatures or token generation. She’s a
sacrifice outlet if you want one, but she's hard
to turn on and keep attacking with. She's pretty
high-variance, though she can help you carry
games if you give her the tools to succeed.
