Approach of the Second Sun
When this card is cast in the manner it
conventionally is, it effectively asks the
question "Can you defeat me in seven turns?" For
many decks, the answer will be yes, so it's
probably more likely that the only decks that
look at it will be the kind that basically stop
everything from happening, ever. It's pretty
slow even by the standards of permission or
pillow-fort decks, so I think it'll mostly be
appealing for style points (and it gets a lot of
uniqueness points too, for being a white
Bolas-themed card). Of course, you could always
speed things up by having two in hand and
Omniscience in play . . .

Approach of the Second Sun
Any card that says “you win
the game” is going to get some attention, and
Approach of the Second Sun is an interesting
twist on the effect. All it asks is that you
cast it twice…though it's perfectly fine if you
have to cast it thrice or more. Without
intervening circumstances, you're going to win
in 7 turns off a resolved Approach of the Second
Sun, and it even gives you 7 life to try and
keep you alive to that point.
This is a card that does
ask for a particular kind of shell to work…it
needs to be a deck that can cycle quickly enough
through the cards to get to Approach, and it
also needs to be able to survive long enough to
resolve a seven-mana sorcery that needs to be
cast twice. This is not a perfect card for every
deck, since the risk is real that you'll be dead
long before you get to cast it for the win.
