Linvala, Keeper of Silence

Linvala’s strength is her flexibility: she turns off a lot of relevant creature abilities and hoses a lot of decks when she comes out, especially the sacrifice-outlet combo decks like Melira or Anafenza-based decks, and she slows down a lot of decks that like creature abilities, like Jund. All for four mana, and you even get a 3/4 flier to boot. She’s good at slowing down opponents while bashing faces in.

Four mana is awkward, though, as Linvala might have the problem of coming down after creatures are establishing themselves on board. She’s good for controlling decks and ones that rely on going deep into games, but she's a bit slow in a lot of match-ups…and her only protection is her 4 toughness, which isn't as awesome as it seems.

  Linvala, Keeper of Silence

Linvala almost reads like a Blood Moon style card, where some opponents' decks become basically blank as soon as she hits the table. Almost, because she is a 3/4 creature with flying and is thus inherently useful in any matchup. And while this also means she can be targeted by Terminate if somebody really wants their activated abilities back, she also gives them a serious time limit to do so and is worth accelerating into with Noble Hierarch and the like regardless of what the opponent has in play.
