Magma Spray
It's hard to believe sometimes that Magma Spray
has only been in four sets. It feels like it's
become a staple, and it's rarely been
overshadowed by other direct damage spells - red
doesn't have many counters to graveyard-centric
strategies without using artifacts or going to
other colors, and that alone basically
guarantees it a place in almost any format.
While I'm glad that the designers have started
giving red access to more styles of spell
effects and revisiting the Wheel of Fortune
concept, I do think there is still a place for
burn variants in every set, and Magma Spray is a
good one to have around.
