I really like cards like this with a
universal and/or modular tribal effect. A new
goblin or merfolk can be good in their
respective decks, but this guy is so powerful
and aggressively costed that he makes every
tribe, often single-handedly. If you want to
keep playing green-blue faerie decks in defiance
of Lorwyn's design, he lets you do that. If
you're afraid you'll never get an official lord
for jellyfish or camels, pick him up. If you
want to anticipate Unstable by building a donkey
deck with Assquatch, this guy will help it keep
up with faster tribes. As long as there are
tribal decks, there will be a use for this card.

Metallic Mimic (9/14)
Metallic Mimic is tribal support for any
tribe, regardless of what it is. Making all of
your creatures bigger is a nifty feature (as a
permanent effect), even if the issue is that it
itself is quite fragile (a 2/1 with no
protection). It can be absurd in “go wide"
strategies, and never underestimate it, but it's
nor going to be a card that can take over games
single-handedly.
