Hi BMoor, it's me again, i need some help with a new deck that i'm working on that uses an enchantment called concerted effort. The enchantment gives all my creatures the abilities that one of my creatures has on every player's upkeep, like flying, double strike and vigilance. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Creatures- 24
4- Order of the stars
4- Boros recruit
4- Boros swiftblade
4- Courier hawk
4- Nightguard patrol
4- Skyknight legionnaire

Spells- 14
3- Sunforger
3- Lightning helix
2- otherwoldly journey
2- yamabushi's flame
2- Ghostway
2- Devouring light

Lands- 22
8- mountain
8- plains
4- boros garrison
2- sunhome, fortress of the legion
Well, Joshua, I think everyone who knows what Concerted Effort does has wanted to build a deck around it.  And everyone who read my last article on Fundamentals(tm) knows that if your deck is built around a card, you need four copies of it.  How many copies of Concerted Effort do you have?  Wait a minute, you don't seem to have any at all.  An oversight, I'm sure; let's add in four copies in exchange for Ghostway and two Boros Recruit.
Now we have our suite of four Concerted Efforts.  Our next task is to make sure we have plenty of creatures with Concertable abilities to bestow upon each other.  Let's run through the list of abilities Concerted Effort cares about.

Flying
As far as flying creatures go, you already have Courier Hawk and Skyknight Legionnaire, both excellent cards in a Concerted Effort deck.  I'd say that's covered.

Fear
Ouch.  Red and white don't have Fear.  The closest there is is Squealing Devil or Hooded Kavu, and they both need Black mana to do anything.  There is Dross Golem, a 3/2 with fear for 5 mana, but you may not want to use cards from Darksteel.  We may just have to skip this one.

First Strike
You've already pretty much covered this one with Boros Recruit and Nightguard Patrol.  I did remove two Recruits, but First Strike isn't really a crucial ability to have with the Effort.

Double Strike
This is why first strike isn't very important.  Sadly, double strike cards are few and far between.  But you already have the best one: Boros Swiftblade.  That'll do.

Landwalk
This one's trickier.  Creatures with landwalk usually have the landwalk ability of the color they are.  Which means white creatures are most likely to have Plainswalk, an ability that hasn't seen print in quite some time.  Mountainwalk would be easier to do; you could replace two Nightguard Patrol with two of either Goblin Spelunkers or Goblin Mountaineer.  This might not be necessary if your opponents don't use Mountains, but it is someting to consider for a possible sideboard.

Protection
Now we're talking: White is king of protection.  You've got Order of the Stars, and that's good.  But you could easily increase the Protection umbrella with a few Guardian of the Guildpact.  Think of it- giving all your creatures protection from monocolored.  You wouldn't even have to pick a color!  So what would you drop?  I'd say the Otherworldly Journey; with Guardians and the Effort out, a Journey can't target your creatures anyway, and I want to increase the total number of creatures in this deck.

Trample
Tricky one.  Trample is Green's domain, but you can have it if you want.  There's really two options: Giant Solifuge and Loxodon Warhammer.  The Solifuge is alright; an aggressive option to be sure.  The Warhammer is slower, but harder to kill and you can gain life with it.  Once you get a Warhammer active, your opponent needs to respond quickly.  Whichever you choose; replace two Sunforger with it.  Sunforger's great, but best in a deck with LOTS of searchable instants.  And you want to load up on creatures, not instants.  And Boros Swiftblade will swing a warhammer just as easily as a Sunforger.

Vigilance
And that brings us back to the humble Courier Hawk.  Also Nightguard Patrol.  You're covered here.

I just realized, Concerted Effort doesn't look at haste.  You can't bestow haste on creatures with it, but I guess that makes sense; the Effort triggers during the upkeep, and any creature in play then would no longer have summoning sickness anyway.  That's fine I suppose.  That pretty much covers your creature base, but there are a few more cards to consider.  Galvanic Arc could replace Yamabushi's Flame, giving you 3 damage plus first strike for the same price.  Of course if all your creatures had protection from Red (or from monocolored), you couldn't target your own creature with it, so you'd have to play it on your opponent's creature.  There's also Peregrine Mask, which gives a creature flying, first strike, and defender.  Concerted Effort doesn't care about defender-- that's why Order of the Stars works here.

That's all I can think of for ways to improve this deck.  Best of luck in all your efforts, Joshua.
