Magic: The Gathering^® Hosts 2008 World Championship in Memphis

A Celebration of Elvis Proportions Comes to Memphis with the World’s Best Pro Players

                                    

WHAT:  Wizards of the Coast will host its premier Magic: The Gathering™ World tournament in Memphis, TN December 11 to 14 at the Cook Convention Center. The next World champion will go home with $45,000, and the distinguished honor of being the best Magic™ player in the World.

 

               The U.S. national team will also compete for the World title against champions from more than 64 countries around the globe.  The World Championship Tournament is the culminating event for Magic players who have been competing all year for their chance at the title.

                

               Local Magic fans can easily get in on the action by participating at public events taking place throughout the weekend for the chance to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes, including an iPod, Apple TV, tons of Magic cards and a 14k gold bar worth $10,000. Additional events taking place during the weekend include Super Friday Night Magic, Magic Online tournaments, learn to play demos, artist signings, open play areas, a preview of the Duels of the Planeswalkers Xbox Live Arcade game, and card trading with hundreds of other Magic fans.
