Magic: The Gathering
Players Battle for World Title in the Ultimate Italian Arena
WHAT:
Wizards of the Coast is headed to the ancient city of Rome,
Italy for the 2009 Magic: The Gathering World
Championship event. Hundreds of Magic players from more
than 50 countries will confront their toughest competition in
the four-day tournament for the chance to rise victorious as the
world’s best Magic player.
The Magic World Championships is the premier event in the
competitive play circuit for the collectible trading card game.
In addition to the individual champion title, players will
represent their countries throughout the tournament for their
shot to bring home the honorable world’s best team title.
All the while, Wizards of the Coast will dub the Magic
Player of the Year and the 2009 Hall of Fame inductees at the
World Championships in Rome.
The event is open to the public, and Wizards of the Coast
invites gaming fans of all types and skill levels to step into
the arena, experience the World Championship’s festivities and
help commemorate Magic’s best of the best. Onsite
attractions include VIP Richard Garfield (the famed creator of
Magic), public events, Magic learn-to-play sessions,
Magic Online and Duels of the Planeswalkers on Xbox LIVE
Arcade demos.
