Subject: Buzz's Yu-gi-oh Top 10 Types That Need Support -
buzz3750
While browsing through the site, I saw there were some new
Top 10s. After reading them, I said to myself, "Hey, I can
do that." Well, here it is.
#10 - Dragons
Let's be realistic here. Dragons don't really have that much
support going for them. Sure you have great things like King
Dragun and good beatdown monsters, but the specific spells
and traps currently out, just don't cut it.
#9 - Rock
Please note that this is written BEFORE the release of The
Lost Millenium set. Knowing what cards will be coming in
that set show that Rock-type cards are getting a nice boost.
But since, it's not out yet, Rock is really close to being
unplayable, IMO. You don't really have much to choose from
to try and make a good, competitive deck. Don't fret Rock
fans, help is on its way!
#8 - Insect
Then, we have the creatures of the bug world. These guys
don't have much going for them even with the Ultimate Insect
cards coming out recently.
Sure, it seems like a good type with beatdown quality
monsters like Insect Knight and good special summoners in
Insect Imitation and Pinch Hopper, but I just don't think
there's enough to compete with. Pinch Hopper hitting the
Graveyard has to be the absolute last thing to happen in the
chain, so it can be easily screwed up. And how can a card
that takes a Insect monster from your opponent's deck and
places it on of the top of it be useful with so few Insect
decks?
#7 - Ninjas
This is more of a personal thing, but I think it can work
outside of that as well. There aren't too many Ninjas out
there to begin with and only a few are actually good. Such
as Strike Ninja, whose effect is so useful entire decks have
been made around him, Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke, who has a
nice effect, despite the face-up limitation, can still be
abused. I mean harnessed.^_^;; And finally Lady Ninja Yae,
with a built in Giant Trunade effect. It's nice but suffers
from low attack power.
#6 - Guardians
Guardians are desparate for some kind of support. "Hey,
where are all those cool guardian spell and trap cards
Raphael used in the show?" you might be asking. Well,
unfortunately for guardian fans, they don't exist! I really
think that Guardians could stand to see some of those above
mention cards, Backup Gardna its equip spell changing
effect, and maybe even a whole new monster or two.
#5 - Sea Serpent
Now these guys could use a boost. They've seen a little bit
more play with the relase of Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness
and the Levia Dragons, but could stand to get some help. I'm
sure there's at least one person out there who wants to play
a Sea Serpent deck. I think that there should a few more at
least halfway decent, playable Sea Serpents made, maybe
along with some spells or traps. And please let their be
something better than Kaiser Seahorse. Really, how are you
going to make a Sea Serpent, which should be used in water
decks mainly, help summon LIGHT monsters?!
#4 - Reptile
Who wouldn't want to play these guys? Oh right. Everybody.
Just like the Sea Serpents, there is at least one person who
wants one of these. I don't even need to say what the best
Reptile card is. I think there should be more support for
Reptiles even if its just for a cult following of Reptile
cards (As is with the next 3). A few of the Reptiles used by
Gansley(sp?) in the Noah saga would be good additions. (At
least, I think they were Reptiles.)
#3 - Dinosaur
I bet all of those Rex Raptor fans have long been sending
mail to Upperdeck to try and get better Dinosaur cards.
Black Tyranno and Dark Driceratops are nice, but there are
very few useful low level dinosaurs. That and some spell and
traps would be nice. How about Rex's Jurassic Heart trap?
Say goodbye to that Ring of Destruction used on your dino.
#2 - Thunder
Many think that there should be more and better Thunder-type
cards, and I agree. So far the best Lv4 and under Thunder
monster is Susa Soldier and due to being a spirit and his
damage halving effect, that's not saying much.
#1 - Plant
I really should have the #1 spot as a tie between Plant and
Thunder, because putting it bluntly as I can, both are
practically unplayable. When you have a spirit monster and a
tribute monster that needs to be in def. mode for its effect
to work while having only 1500 def., as your best monsters,
something is clearly wrong here.
Loved it? Hated it? Want to send me hate mail until I drown
in it? Either way, send me a e-mail. And hey, if this goes
well, I might do another one.
'Till next time.
