Blasko's Yu-GiOh Top 10 Must have Trap Cards

As the ban list changes, and cards are added or taken away, this list becomes less playable in the new "Advanced" format. I am sure some of these will come and some will go. But it's always fun to at least have these, and use them in a normal fun game.
For those that do not know me. I am Richard Blasko. Navy Reservist and Game/Card Store owner. And avid player of Magic, Yu Gi Oh, Vs. and Vampire the Eternal Struggle. (Jyhad to the old school) As well as Yu Gi Oh and Vs Judge, Hero Clix Judge, and Mechwarrior Battle Master.

10 Drop Off
Playing around, I used three of these. And just resting my hand on a trap card, before the draw of my opponent, made him sweat. It makes the very bottom of this list, only because they still get the card in hand, and it puts some cards, that are needed into the graveyard.

9 Royal Decree
As an avoid trap hater, I loved seeing this card come out. I had two within the month it hit the Tournament packs.
It makes the near bottom of this list for one reason. It stops your own trap cards. While I use few traps, it has hurt me a few times. It makes this list for one reason. No tribute. Replace Jinzo with Dark Ruler Ha Des, and never worry about traps or effects.
The look on some kid's face when you flip this, is well worth it. Just as they think they have you. And when it was a hard card to get, even better, because no one planed for it.

8 Barrel Behind the Door
While I have used the second turn kill with this card, and a ring. (Mind you I needed an Axe on my GAF, and got a clean hit out right away.) This card has other bonuses.
With Ring of Distortion so easy to get a hold of. (I own a card shop, and gave these out to kids just starting. You can still hit a Wal-Mart and get a limited edition one.) And Magic Cylinder, as well as so many other cards, pre and post ban. It's a nice way to curve some of the effect damage, and if planed and used right, a killer card. And good to fire that CED-Envoy of the End damage back at them.

7 Ring of Distraction
I've seen games won and lost with this card. Even without the help of the number 9 card above. It's got me out of a Yata Attack. Helped clear the field for me. Gets rid of Spirit Reaper. You may take some damage, but it's shared.

6 Bottomless Trap Hole
When cards that left play, stayed that way, this card ruled. Running three of these (I don't anymore) got people to start to fear summoning while playing you. It got Dark Ruler or a GAF off your back. Nercrofear, went away, and stayed that way. And Pre Ban, it made cards like Monster Reborn useless at times. Nothing to bring back. It got rid of some one that Choas food. And for those that just started, and did not have the pull of all of these 1900 attackers, it saved their small fry 1800, and kept them on the field. And If that's not a selling point. It's all on the order of how Magical Scientist summons those pesky fusion monsters. If they do it wrong, you can at least get rid of those things. Oh, and it works with Cyber Jar. Yes, Cyber Jar. One trap card, and you can take up to five monsters from play.

6 Magic Cylinder
Curve some attack damage. Waste one of their attacks. Hey, if they built up a power house, with equips, then it hurts them. And gives you a turn to find something to protect yourself.

5 Mirror Force
And for when you don't want to delay the pain, but stop it all, in it's tracks.

4 Imperial Order
In the days of Yata, this stopped all the spell cards to empty your hand. It stopped Monster Reborn. It more or less helped slow things down to your level. And when you wanted to stop paying 700 a turn, you killed it, and then unloaded your spell cards.

3 Call of the Haunted
Monster Reborn in a trap card. While not a fan of messing with my graveyard, this was a god save at times. Others, it was just a nice helping hand. There is something about a Chainable card, that let you get Jinzo. Or a card when hit with MST, you could chain to get something like Sangan out, and use his effect as he died again.

2 Time Seal
Better than time seal for two reasons. Card never get's drawn. And two, chainable. Set it. Let them think it's something worse. Let them waste a MST, then chain it and watch them lose a draw phase.

1 Waboku
Laugh all you like. But when COD comes out, and you use this card. Cause you can chain it. No need to worry about Yata that turn. Or being slammed into. When they MST it, chain it. I love chainable cards. As a friend Josh once told me when I started. If you can't chain it, don't run it. It saves you and your monsters for a turn. Or just saves you. Whatever the case, it's a must have for the new, and the old alike. While I stay away from traps at times, any "fun" deck as one or two of these.
