Subject: Jason's Yu-Gi-Oh Top 10 List - Top 10 Topdeck Cards

The Top 10 Topdeck Cards

As you well know, Card Advantage in today's games is very important.
If you are an avid player of Yu-Gi-Oh!, you should already know your +1s and -1s. Field advantage provides tribute fodder for your bigger monsters and protection for your lifepoints, while hand advantage provides more options for the many tight situations a duelist can get into. Field advantage shows itself in the form of Hydrogeddons, Gravekeeper's Spy, and Apprentice Magician (or any type of searcher for that matter). Hand advantage is a bit more difficult to gain with Pot of Greed on the ban list, but there are cards that do mill through your deck that will give you more options, those being Card Destruction, Pot of Avarice, and Graceful Charity (which in my opinion is best card in the game; there has never been a time where I haven't been glad to draw into Graceful).

In many games, it is never good to exhaust one's hand too quickly, that's why the Skelengals and the Dekoichis are in so many decks. I myself try not to run too many combos in my deck so that when a game comes to topdecking, I don't draw a piece of my combo that is useless without another piece. When a game comes to topdecking, I find that it ends fairly quickly because there are not many options for the topdecking duelist. If I were to consider a better advantage between field and hand, I think hand advantage is much better because the player with field advantage would still be topdecking and it is easier to make a comeback with a full hand of options. Now in my experience, I find that in a topdecking situation, there are a handful of cards that make the best topdecked cards.

10) Reinforcements of the Army
Alright, I know it is not for every deck, BUT most decks run the mandatory D.D. Warrior Lady, the Exiled Forces, and the occasional D.D.
Assailant (the Dimensional monsters are stall themselves in that most people hesitate to attack when they know you took D.D. Warrior Lady from your deck). Basically, this cards says, retrieve exactly what you need from your deck to conform to the situation at hand.

09) Graceful Charity
Ok, I am probably biased here since this is my favorite card (well Spell card anyway). But who hasn't been glad to have drawn into Graceful
Charity? Despite the face that Graceful simply replaces itself, it will advance you 3 turns and give you the best option out of the three. I once
went Graceful into Pot of Avarice, so depending on your deck, this could
be a great topdeck especially if you run other cards on this list.

08) Cybernetic Cyclopean/Blade Knight/Zombyra The Dark
So here you have a 3 for one which are all beatsticks to throw at your opponent. They are usually only good for the first turn that you draw them but non-the-less are great topdecks. I equate these monsters to Gear Golem the Moving Fortress, Big Shield Gardna, and Destiny Hero -
Defender (whose drawbacks to their high defense worsens as I list
them)

07) Gravekeeper's Spy
Protect your lifepoints AND thin out your deck, I say yes. If you don't have the room for the spies, try Scapegoat, because 4 monsters (albeit 0/0 monsters) for one card is great; blocking 4 attacks usually buys you
2 turns. But Scapegoats usually combo with other cards but in this
case
I only consider them for defense.

06) Messenger of Peace
The reason LLA-B and G-Bind are not on this list is because they usually hinder most decks in stopping your own attacks when you finally regroup.
At least with Messenger of Peace, it can be "turned off" when you wish.

05) Spirit Reaper
Guaranteed to give you at least a turn, but reapers usually stay on the field for a while until the opposing player draws into a removal card to rid this indestructible wall from the field.

04) Swords of Revealing Light
Ok, when Its time to regroup, swords gives you 3 turns to do so.
Make
those turns count and watch out mandatory MST, Heavy, and Breaker.

03) Card of Sanctity
Can you say Pot of Greed? What have you got to lose? This is the
absolute topdeck when you don't have neither field of hand advantage.

02) Pot of Avarice
Want to reuse that Magician of Faith, start the field rush all over again with Hydrogeddons? This is a lifesaver near the end of a duel. No deckout for you and more cards in the hand.

01) Morphing Jar
Though you may have to take a hit or two, this card is amazing when
topdecked, I know there have been incredible 360s in a duel where the
morphing jar player had enough options to end the duel. This card is worth the 15-16$. You won't regret it
