Subject: My Article on Soul Control - Brian Foley
Is it really a Warrior deck?
This article is explaining why theme decks really aren't
theme decks. Seems strange doesn't it? Well let's say that
there is a Warrior theme deck in the top 8 of a Shonen Jump
Championship, it wouldn't exactly be a Warrior deck because
it would be running cards like Breaker the Magical Warrior
and Mobius the Frost Monarch. If you look on the Pojo forums
you will see a lot of decks with the title "Warrior
Toolbox", it will be running a lot of Warriors such as Don
Zaloog, D.D. Assailant and D.D. Survivor, but it will also
be running cards like Cyber Dragon, Mobius the Frost Monarch
and Spirit Reaper. This is what this article is based on and
I am going to show you a pure Warrior deck and your Standard
Cookie Cutter Warrior deck.
Here is an example of a Warrior Toolbox:
Monsters: 17
Mobius the Frost Monarch

Description: Pretty good deck isn't it? Yeh this deck
dominates the Metagame and all that, but it isn't actually a
theme, it is just a random jank deck with 9 Warriors. 9 out
of the 17 monsters are Warriors, but that doesn't make it a
Warrior deck. I'll show you an example of a pure Warrior
deck right now.

Description: This deck could stand up to a Warrior Toolbox
any day, it's amazing trap line-up would destroy the
Toolbox's trap line-up. The spell line-ups are almost
identical except for the Warrior Returning Alive's because
they are there to maintain hand management as I have
included 2 Marauding Captains in this line-up to swarm the
toolbox.
Of course you don't have to run all the same type in a theme
deck, I just wanted to show that it could be done. Warrior
toolbox decks use tech cards such as Chaos Sorcerer
sometimes if they have included enough light and dark
monsters in their monster line-up.
Well there is the article, sorry I couldn't spend much time
on it, I'll try to submit another one next week. E-Mail me
with any suggesttions ratings, etc. Also if anybody wants a
deck-fix e-mail me and I'll get on it.
