Over-Splashing Can Make
Your Yu-Gi-Oh Deck All Wet-T34 W!rt$m@n
Well, heres another tip. I know you want another. Who
wouldn't?
I'd also like to thank all the people who e-mailed me with
their agreement with my last...er, tip, if you could call
it. They know who they are.
Also, to the person(this is questionable) who sent me my
first hate mail ever, thanks. I hope you can turn your Caps
Lock off soon.
Moving on, I decided to submit this one on the splashability
of certain cards. And how over-splashing, can really bog
down the deck.
First, will cover what is means to splash something. Its
also known as teching. This is when you take a card and put
it in your deck, not normally because it fits the theme, but
because it can combat something the deck is weak against, or
a card your opponent might play that you can counter.
Now that you know what splashing is, we can go over a few
cards that are normally splashed:
Scapegoat
Elephant Statue of Disaster
Book of Moon
Tsukuyomi
Dark Core
Wave Motion Cannon
Enraged Battle Ox
These are just some of the cards I see people main deck, or
side deck. I'm assuming you know what they do, so you'll
know why someone might want to run these. But, it can easily
get out of hand. After awhile, all you have is a deck full
of cards meant to counter something your opponent might not
even be playing. It sucks to play Scapegoat to stop Berserk
Gorilla, only for your opponent to slap down Enraged Battle
Ox just for these situations(assuming hes only running
Beatdown, not Beastdown). That is a good time spalshing can
come in. Putting in Dark Core is a good idea too, since it
can deal with recurring creatures like V. Lord, Phoenix, and
Manticore of Darkness.
But too often people will play cards JUST because it can
provide advantage in really slim situations. Remember White
Hole? It would protect your cards from Dark Hole while
destroying your opponents. How situational is that? Not
worth it at all really. Don't main deck 3 Elephant of
Destrucion because everyone runs Delinquent Duo. I hope you
can understand what I'm getting at.
Splashing cards works best when those cards not only help
cover your weakness and exploit your opponents, but also
when they fit the theme of your deck.
Remember, don't oversplash, cause I'm gonna freak out if I
go to another tournament and my opponent has White Hole in
his hand.
