Sean’s back. To clarify a bit, in the batch of tips on April 18, the articles "Chaos: the counter Counter-Revolution" and "fun little burn combo" are mine I just forgot to put "by Sean" in the title. Sorry for the oversight. Anyway, here’s a new batch of articles. Enjoy!
I am proud to announce that I’m starting my own unofficial deck garage. I’m not cool enough to have an official one. However, each week I get at least a half-dozen requests for deck designs and/or fixes. So I’ll be submitting a response to one of these emails to pojo tips once a week. Hope you enjoy them. Here’s another of my pro-Chaos articles to try to help out my brothers in chaos. I’m reviewing a card family that is remarkably powerful but unfortunately also very overlooked, namely the Silent Swordsmen.
Silent Swordsman LV3 is the first of the family. The points that need to be stressed are searchability and the easy special summon requirement. Silent Swordsman LV3 is the base for the whole family. His optimal use is to be brought out by Shining Angel and then tributed for Silent Swordsman LV5. Like all the initial monsters in an LV series, Silent Swordsman LV3 isn’t that great on his own. However, he is easily one of the most solid, if not the best, of the initial stepping stones due to his versatility Silent Swordsman LV5 is the main guy of the family. He easily gets Special Summoned with LV3's effect, and you could also normal tribute summon him if necessary. 2300 ATK is nice, and even better is his effect of being immune to opponent’s spells. That means ALL. He can attack under Swords and shrugs off Lightning Vortex, Smashing Ground, Snatch Steal, etc. If you can put him and Jinzo on the field together, you can put your opponent in a pretty tight spot.
Silent Swordsman LV7 is Big Daddy. In a Silent Swordsman deck, he deserves one spot. Only one. In a chaos deck, he should be nowhere to be seen. While the transition requirement from LV3 to LV5 is one of the easiest and most efficient of the LV monsters, the transition from LV5 to LV7 is one of the worst. Furthermore, LV7 is nomi monster, so he can’t be brought back. He also brings with him a built-in Imperial Order, which is arguably worse than LV5's effect. The extra 500 ATK really isn’t worth it. You could try it, but Silent Swordsman LV5 really is where the family ends.
Go ahead and use these guys. They got some serious power. If you’re running chaos, these guys can provide some solid support and of course chaos food. Just be wary of LV7.
