Theme Decks - Beaverman
Hi, its Beaverman again.
I have been thinking about originality (as
usual) and decided that, when it comes down to it, very few
themed decks have tournament potential. But firstly, what
are the primary themed decks people are thinking about.
1. Harpies- Yep, Mai's ever so dangerous harpies. There's
been a bit of debate on this subject, but its pretty clear
which side has all of the brains on it. HARPY DECKS WILL
NEVER WORK! I can guarantee it. Nobody can beat a regional
caliber player with a Harpy Deck. Its simple, they are too
bad. You can have a max of three Harpies WOOHOO. Even if you
could have 3 of each Harpy, they still wouldn't be good.
2. Insect- After people saw how Weevil shut down Joey with
an insect deck, everybody wondered if they could make one
that powerful. However, at the time, very few of his cards
were out. Then in IOC, it all came together.
Unfortunately, IOC was also the dawn of chaos, which
completely overshadowed the possibility of insect decks.
Then, FET released Insect Knight, but it was too late to
bring them into the metagame. However, I personally have
made an insect deck, but I use it to train my 6 year old
sister. How much tournament potential does that give it?
3. Dragon- Lets face it. Dragons are cool, but they aren't
good. The main problem with dragons is that they rely too
heavily on double tribute monsters.
I attempted to make one before the dragon structure deck
came out, and did some considerable play testing, but never
quite got it to the tournament. Then the decks came out, but
the dragon deck wasn't exactly "successful."
4. Water- Yep, everybody has thought about making a water
deck at one point or another. After the second ban list,
they once had a small boom, where water decks popped up in
every tournament, well, at least one did. People thought
chaos was over, and tried to find new dominant deck types.
Apparently, water wasn't it. However, though the new starter
decks definitely won't make them the next zombies, they
could have small tournament potential in the right hands.
Well, I'm very sorry if I accidentally insulted your deck
type. I'm going to later go into detail of the pros and cons
of these decks and build, to the best of my ability, one of
each. By the way, if you're wondering why I suddenly shifted
from a pro-chaos perspective to an originality outlook
perspective, you'll learn why all to soon.
Thank You,
Beaverman

Hmm... Now for a good line. Well, if you can think of a good
one, find me on AIM.
