The Jake Taylor Style of dueling arose out of the desire to create a methodology that encompasses the attributes of power, speed, and resolve. It involves three main positions, resistance, elimination, and aggression. Further, it is promoted by the use of perfect synergy and mental preparation. It is around these principles that not only is the deck structured but also the mind trained.



To first understand the tenets of the Jake Taylor Style, one must examine perfect synergy and mental preparation. Synergy refers to the playability of cards and how cards play and react together within a deck. A simple example of this can be found in the relationship between deck theme and the deck purpose. Meaning if your deck theme is warrior and its goal is to win through control then all the cards in the deck must adhere to this philosophy. They must be warrior related and control oriented in nature. Now with this understanding, perfect synergy can be addressed. Perfect synergy refers to the achieving of synergy with respect to individual card weights. Yu Gi Oh cards have different weights and this deferential affects a decks playability. So perfect synergy is achieved when the purpose of cards, the weight of cards, and the deck theme combine in a way that maximizes the playability of a deck. Moving on, mental preparation is as simple as it sounds. It means that one must know his deck. Each card must be studied and understood completely. All possible situational uses must be explored and tested. Each of these notions is extremely important and serve as the basis for all dueling theories and laws.
