Trading Card Game Tips from fans

From: Daniel P. Bollen
Subject: Let's Get Ready To Crumple! Jinzo Tourney - DnDDmDb

HELLO! To the many people of Pojo!  This is DnDDmDb with a new series of articles, called Let's Get Ready To Crumple.  In these articles, I will do a summary of two cards' strengths and weaknesses.  There will usually be 3 showdowns in each article, but sometimes there may be up to 5.  I will make ONE judgment for each showdown, which will count as one vote towards the card I voted for.  You readers will be responsible to read my article and send me your votes.  Then, at the start of my next article, I will post the vote of what you thought was better.  I will list the percentage of the people who voted, but I will not give away your name.

HOWEVER, I will list your name if you correct me on the card rulings, as I do sometimes make a mistake.  Please tell me in your reply if you would like me to say your name or remain anonymous.

Also, in these articles there will be a main showdown, and all the other showdown will be not as important.  Also, the other showdowns will not have pictures.

Anyway, on to the Tourney!

Jinzo Tourney

This article's Tournament will be to decide whether Jinzo, a card just about everyone who has uses, is better than the other cards that negate or destroy Spell/Trap cards.

Main Showdown

Jinzo Vs. Mobius the Frost Monarch

    Jinzo                                                                                                                    Mobius the Frost Monarch

Effect Summary: Negates All Traps.                                                                       Effect Summary: Destroys 2 Spell/Traps

    Attack: 2400    Defense: 1500                                                                                Attack: 2400    Defense: 1800

    Dark/Machine                                                                                                       Water/Aqua

Six Stars = 1 Tribute                                                                                             Six Stars = 1 Tribute

Now, for the Showdown.

Effects:  Jinzo negates (not destroys) ALL Trap cards.  That's about 1/4 your opponents deck.  However, Jinzo can be destroyed by a trap when he is first summoned, such as Trap Hole or Torrential Tribute.  His other weakness is that once Jinzo leaves the field, Traps can be activated once again, therefore, Jinzo is only useful for as long as you can keep him alive.  Mobius, however, fulfills his purpose (at least the purpose of his effect) once he is successfully summoned.  Now, Torrential Tribute and Trap Hole can be used against him, because he was not yet "Successfully" summoned.  Now, he may not keep all traps from activating, but he can take out 2 cards, Spell OR Trap.  Although Mobius must be TRIBUTE SUMMONED, whereas Jinzo can be special summoned to have his effect activate.

Atk/Def:  Both Jinzo and Mobius have equal Attack, 2400.  Mobius's Defense, however, is 300 points higher.  That is not much, but, Jinzo is subject to Hydrogeddon, whereas Mobius is not.

Type/Attribute:  Jinzo is Dark/Machine.  Both his attribute and type are supported in some way.  Mobius is not as supported as Jinzo.  He makes it out as Aqua/Water.  However, type and attribute do not matter as much as other monsters, because either way, with 2400 Atk they are not searchable.

Stars:  Both monsters are 6 stars, making them 1 tribute.  This is the only way to go for Mobius, because he must be tribute summoned.

Decision:  I must say that I prefer Mobius the Frost Monarch over Jinzo, because his effect is short and sweet, and activates simultaneously.  I have also come to this decision because I hate it when my opponent summons a monster with 2500 Atk or more, causing me to change my Jinzo to Defense position to save my LP, then my opponent summoning Hydrogeddon, destroying my Jinzo, summoning another Hydrogeddon, and attacking with the big monster.

2nd Showdown

Jinzo vs. Mirage Dragon

Mirage Dragon

Effect Summary:  Your opponent can't activate traps during the battle phase.

Attack: 1600  Defense: 600

Light/Dragon

Four Stars = No Tributes

Now, for the Showdown.

Effects:  Jinzo was explained previously.  Now, Mirage Dragon does not negate all traps like Jinzo does.  He is more useful than Jinzo at some times because with him, you can activate traps ALL THE TIME!  With him, you can activate the 1/4 of the deck Jinzo doesn't let you use.  However, your opponent can use traps also, but not the ones such as Magic Cylinder, Draining Shield, Mirror Force, and Sakuretsu Armor.

Atk/Def:  Jinzo has more Attack and Defense than Mirage Dragon.  Therefore Mirage Dragon has almost no effect against Jinzo.

Type/Attribute:  Mirage Dragon is a Dragon (duh), which gives him support, but with 1600 Atk, but he is not searchable.

Stars:  With Mirage Dragon being only 4 starred, he is much more easily summoned than Jinzo.

Decision:  Although Mirage Dragon is a useful card, he is not as good as Jinzo.  And for that reason, I choose Jinzo as the winner of this Showdown.

3rd Showdown

Jinzo vs. Royal Decree

Royal Decree

Effect Summary:  Negate the Effects of all Trap cards other than this card.

Trap

Now, for the Showdown

Effects:  Royal Decree does the exact same thing as Jinzo in every way imaginable.

Spell/Trap vs. Monster:  Because Royal Decree is a Trap card and not a Monster, he is far easier to play than Jinzo.  Royal Decree does not require a sacrifice, cannot be destroyed by monster removal, but can be destroyed by Spell/Trap removal.  Also, Spell/Trap removal is much less common than Monster Removal.  Also, although spell/trap cards cannot be destroyed by attacks, they cannot attack.

Decision:  Royal Decree is better than Jinzo because of playability and less ways to be destroyed.

Well, that's for the first tourney.  Remember, you cane-mail me at dpbollen@adelphia.net
