Trading Card Game Tips from fans

Subject: Battle - advanced tip for the meta - PharaohEvan

Think about some of the best cards in the game. Maybe the staples like Breaker, Sangan, Spirit Reaper. Maybe cards for more specific decks like Magical Merchant, Dekoichi, and Gravekeepers spy. Certainly they are awsome, now to understand why.

Each of these cards achieves a goal before or after it's destroyed.
Breaker breaks, sangan searches, reaper discards, merchant mills for a spell/trap, dekoichi draws, and Spy makes a copy of itself. All excellent effects alone, but they also trick the opponent into destroying them (Merchant = Exception here). How about thinking about every time you destroyed one of these monsters with a 1 for 1 like sakuretsu, smashing ground, or even exiled force (after the effect of the destroyed monster go's off of course). Because of a hasty action like this you conciously let your opponent obtain a 1 for 2 card advantage. Not only do they use the cards effect but you fully extend your recources into destroying non threatful monsters in non threatful situations. Try Using battle instead!

Attacking is the most inportant part of card advantage (Which is a part of the most important part of any game SPEED and OPTIONS). Attacking can single handidly obtain free advantage. Yes essentially a 0 for 1. The use of cards like cyber dragon, D.D. Warrior Lady, and D.D. Assailant are the direct spawn child of this idea. " If you can keep the opponent from obtaining a advantage from attacking or destroy the opponents weaklings with a beatstick then it will lead you to future card advantage - field presence, hand advantage, or both. Remember to always obtain advantage from attacking if possible. Remember after a card has used its effect to get advantage (Exception beatsticks like the monarchs) it is practically dead. This means you dont need to let use a piece of 1 for 1 destruction to get rid of it, just try battleing

Final thoughts - Sometimes a card like Mobius or Spirit reaper will make you use a way other than battle to destroy the monster, this is ok. Remember if you play right you can do this right back to the opponent. Ohh and Dont Sakuretsu Gravekeepers spys, if the cards effect has been used the dammage is done... no reason to make it harder on yourself because you want to be aggressive in a form other than battle.

My Rules for better card management:

1. Always try to use battle as a tool for card advantage

2. Only destroy a monster like Breaker that has used its effect with a way
other than battle if the monster will directly lead to you losing, if it
will destroy one of your own cards ( Like by a battle between breaker
and Don zaloog or a Don zaloog making you discard)

3. In a match between non - combo decks card advantage is more important
thn life. It is ok if it takes you a while to be ready to destroy your
opponents options through battle. Think of life points as though they
measured your playing ability. After you obtain card advantage it will become easier to prove your playing ability to the game
enough to win and harder for your opponent (Wierd - yes, bad idea -
no).

Question?, Did a make a mistake?, Deck ideas?, Anything?. Just e-mail me at Pharaohevan@aol.com. Thanks
