Trading Card Game Tips from fans

Tsuku + Mask + Time Seal = Big fun! - By ~ShineSoldier~

Hello everybody.
I’m back again and today I’m doing a little chitchat about a combo that was recently introduced in Asia. It depended on three cards that were all quite easy to get. Still, they could form a devastating combination together. First, let’s take a look at the three cards:

Mask of Darkness
Dark / Fiend / 3 Stars / 900-400

“FLIP: Select one trap card from your Graveyard and add it to your hand.”

Tsukuyomi
Dark / Spellcaster-Spirit / 4 Stars / 1100-1400

“This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card returns to the owner’s hand at the End Phase of the turn in which this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or flipped face-up. When this card is Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned succesfully, select one Monster on the field and flip it into face-down defense position.”

Time Seal
Normal Trap

“Your opponent skips his/her next draw phase.”

Instead of Time Seal, you could also use Drop Off.

Now what exactly is the purpose of this combo? Well, it’s pretty simple. Make sure that there is at least one copy of Time Seal in your Graveyard or face-down on your field. Then you activate it in your opponent’s turn (if face-down on your field). During your next turn, you flip your Mask of Darkness so yo can return Time Seal to your hand. Play it face-down again and summon Tsukuyomi to flip MoD face-down. Your opponent skips his draw phase due Time Seal and during your next turn you activate Time Seal again etc...

So this combo is basically what Yata-Garasu did on it’s own. Your opponent will be unable to draw any cards, while you still can. The big difference with this combo and Yata is that Yata had only 200 ATK, so unless you had a lot of cards in your deck, you would most likely deck yourself out before your opponent’s Life Points were 0. With this combo, you will be able to attack for 1100 damage (Tsuku) every turn, so that it’ll only take 8 turns at max assuming you can attack directly.

Now which cards come in handy when building a deck that focusses on this combo?
The usual Stall cards come to mind right away: Gravity Bind, LLAB, MoP etc. You’ll also need some speed, since you want to draw your combo as soon as possible. Sangan and Mystic Tomato can do that well. Use Mystic Tomato to get either MoD or Sangan and use Sangan to get Tsukuyomi. Last Will could be another useful card. When adding cards like Exiled Force, Berserk Gorilla’s and Thestalos (so you can destroy their hand faster), you’ll be able to destroy your own monsters and get Last Will to work. Of course you could also use Cannon Soldier.
Then we’ll need some hand depletion cards. Think about Confiscation, Spirit Reaper (nice protection too), Thestalos (as mentioned earlier) etc. You can also use cards like Giant Trunade and Compulsory Evacuation Device to fuel their hand and then destroy those cards with the ones that I mentioned above.
My own personal favorite is another combo: Protector of the Sanctuary + Card Destruction. Your opponent will lose all of his cards, but cannot draw any others. And because of the fact that those two cards alone fit in this deck without even have to combo with each other, why would you even bother leaving them out? Card Destruction provides deck thinning, which equals speed to get out your precious combe sooner and PotS will make sure your opponent can’t draw cards even outside their useless Draw Phases.

And finally I’ll mention a few other nice cards:
- Different Dimension Capsule
- Wall of Revealing Light
- Gravekeeper’s Guard
- Penguin Soldier
- Injection Fairy Lily
- Spear Cretin
- Trap Dustshoot
- Night Assailant
- Book of Moon
- Book of Taiyou
- Solemn Judgment
- Reload
- Final Countdown

That’s it for this article. I hope you all enjoyed it.

Greets,
~ShineSoldier~
