Subject: y originality should b used instead of so many
cookie cutters.by The GuitarFreak
Hello everyone....iam just your every day average
duelist..i've been playing Yu-Gi-Oh since the first starter
decks came out and I have won my fair share of tournaments.
Through all of these years no matter how the game has
changed with the apperence of new cards, ruleings, and
banned/restricted list, one thing always stays the same in
this game. That one thing is the decks that people play.
Everyone always plays the same decks. During the
pre-banned/restricted list days, everyone ran pure chaos.
after that, everyone ran either pure chaos with diffrent
cards or they ran chaos warriors. Today everyone is useing
cyber dragons, dons, spirit reapers, D.D assailants, and so
on...Now there is nothing wrong with playing these cards,
fore they do win, i use most of them in my main competeetive
deck and i have won for 3 weeks in a row at my local
tourney. But when ever we duel some one, they are excpeting
that u run a cookie cutter deck, and after the first duel,
they pretty much know your entire deck! and then they know
how to counter it if they are an experienced duelist. So the
point of this article is to talk about some ways to put a
little originality into your deck. And i'll even talk about
how u can make some original decks playable with overlooked
cards...
Lets start with cards thatcan replace cookie cutters.
Don Zalood is a poplur card because of his special ability
to give you hand control. Well, there are 2 cards that can
give ALL of your monsters dony's special ability. Robbin
Goblin and Robin Zombie...Now i know you people are thinking
"well those are weak against heavy storm, MST, breaker,
royal decree, and jinzo"
But if you look at it in a diffrent way, Don Zaloog is weak
against: smashing ground, torrential tribute, fissure,
lightning vortex, and any monster with an attack of 1500 or
more (D.D warrior lady, D.D assailant, breaker, mobius,
jinzo, etc) so really, they can all be destroyed easily, but
the to robbing trap cards allow ALL of your monsters (except
jinzo and E-hero wildheart) to have Don Zaloogs effects. And
they throw some originality into your deck.
Another card that has been overlooked and is almost just as
good as its cookie cutter cousin is The Fiend Megacyber...If
you dont know what cookie cutter this guy is over shadowed
by then you should be ashamed..It is Cyber Dragon of course.
the only diffrence between these 2 is that the fiend
megacyber says your opponent has to have 2 or more cards
than you do. but the cool thing is that if you have no
monsters on your side of the field, your opponents has 4 on
his side, and you have 2 of these dudes in your hand, you
can special summon both of them! also fiend mega cybers
attack is 2200 instead of 2100. He is also a Drak and a
Warrior so he has PLENTY of support...So for those of you
who cant afford a cyber dragon, just get a couple of these
guys.
I have one more replacement card to talk about and that is
the black sheep of the D.D family. D.D survivor is the
complet opposite of the rest of the D.D's...and he is anti
metagame...so if u cant afford a D.D assailant, then just
run 2 or even 3 of these dudes and completly screw your
cookie cutter opponents deck...
O.k...now for some cards that could make original decks
playable..and for those of you who are still reading this
god bless you for i know that this is a very long
article.....
the first deck type that iam going to talk about is the
union deck..usually the only kind of union deck people run
is a XYZ or now even VWXYZ deck. some cards that would
greatly help these decks are : Roll Out!, Formation
union,and Front line base.
Lets talk about why these cards are good. Roll out is simply
a call of the haunted forunion cards formation union could
be used for many diffrent things..for example, lets say you
summon VWXYZ, you could use its removal effect, attack with
it, the activate this card to return VWXYZ into VW and XYZ
and get to more attacks in the same battle phase....Front
line base could let you get your union on the first turn!
since this article is becomeing so long i will tell youof 2
more cards that could be good and then that will be all for
this time.
the first card is called Rivalry of Warlords...it is a
common continuis trap that makes it to where u and your
opponent can only have 1 type of onster on the field each
turn..now if you are running a solid warrior, beast, zombie,
fiend etc, deck, then this card would completly ruin your
opponents cookie cutter deck!
the other card that could be good is called Fiend
Comedian...its true power lies in an exchange of the spirit
deck or an exodie deck, or a remove from play/burn deck...it
allows u to flip a coin and call it...if u call it right, u
remove your opponets grave yard from play (exchange of the
spirit OTK) if u call it wrong then u remove from play cards
in your deck equal to the amount of cards in your opponents
grave yard...so if u run a RFG deck then this could really
help you! of if u run exodi, remove all the cards except
exodi and cards that can help you...
well these are just some things that you can all think
about...but remember..the element of surprise can always
help u in anything competetive...so try to be original with
your deck and you just might be surprised.....and most
importantly HAVE FUN!!! thats what this game is all about...
well untile next time, this is the GuitarFreak saying "have
fun dueling and good luck to everyone in your upcomeing
tournaments"
any feedback would be appreciated..especially from pojo
staff ; )
