Reader Tips, Rants and Raves

Subject: Butterfly Dagger Combo - Dustin H.
Hello to everyone out there reading this! Before I start,
I'd like to thank you for reading this, if you are.
Before I get to the actual tip, I need to say something
else, first. Perhaps some of you recall reading my tip
involving Fire Princess, Manticore of Darkness, Solemn
Wishes, and Card of Safe Return. Well, I have good news,
excellent in fact.
Recently, I was looking up a question I had about a card I'm
planning on using in a deck and in the process, I came
across Fire Princess. (It was in alphabetical order.) If
you'll recall, I mentioned that it did not matter how many
Solemn Wishes you had on the field. I stand corrected.
You see, with what I discovered, I found that each Solemn
Wishes counts as a number of LP increases equal to the
number on the field. So, for example, having two on the
field would activate Fire Princesses effect twice.
Here's the kicker. Say you have three Solemn Wishes and
three Fire Princesses. Each time you gain LP from Solemn
Wishes, your opponent will take 1500 points of damage from
your three Fire Princesses. That means, for each Solemn
Wishes, your opponent will take 1500 points of damage.
If you have three on the field, that adds up to 4500 damage
per draw! That's a lot of damage! You'd only have to draw
twice to finish your opponent, unless they healed their LP
beforehand. If you think it's good, give it a shot. And, of
course, if you don't know what I'm talking about, read my
previous tip.
(By the way, I'm not sure, but maybe, just maybe, you could
have three Card of Safe Return cards out and only have to
bring back Manticore of Darkness once to win. I'm not sure,
though.)
Sorry that was so lengthy. In fact, that wasn't the real
tip. Read on for a possibly better one WHICH CAN ONLY BE
USED IN TRADITIONAL FORMAT!!!
This next strategy involves four cards, again.
Fire Princess - Really, as many as you want. It doesn't
matter.
Gearfried the Iron Knight - Only one is needed.
Spell Absorption - As many as you want.
Butterfly Dagger - Elma - Just one is needed. (I think you
can only have one anyway.)
Before I continue, let me state again that this combo CAN'T
BE USED IN ADVANCED FORMAT. IF YOU USE THIS IT MUST BE IN
TRADITIONAL FORMAT.
This strategy was just a little improvement on a CotD review
I read. (The one for Spell Absorption.) Have Fire Princess,
Gearfried the Iron Knight, and Spell Absorption on the
field. (At least one of each.) Have Butterfly Dagger ready
in your hand.
Equip Butterfly Dagger to Gearfried. Spell Absorption will
give you 500 more LP and Fire Princess will give your
opponent 500 LP of damage. Butterfly Dagger will be
destroyed because of Gearfried's effect and then return to
your hand because of its own effect. Repeat until the
opponent is defeated.
On a final note, I just want to make clear that I don't use
these strategies myself, mostly because I don't have the
cards needed. But if you want to use them, (or just the
first one I sent, if you're playing in Advanced Format) I'd
suggest using them in maybe a Fire Princess deck with a lot
of drawing power.
Anyway, to finish this tip, I just need to say that YOU
CANNOT USE THE SECOND STRATEGY IN TRADITIONAL FORMAT.
So, if you have any questions or comments, you can e-mail me
at GUYOBRAINS@aol.com. And, again, thanks for reading.
