Subject: Combo Rant with Tips - Ezekiel
Hi All! Well since this is my fourth post to the CCG I think
I should tell y'all something 'bout myself.
My name is Johnny, am 18 on 25th January and I live in
Northern Ireland, it's not very exciting but hey, it's home.
It's my final year in high school before I go to university
next year. I have a girlfriend who I have been seeing for
over a year now and I have been dueling on and off for the
past 3 years (since it started basically.) My favourite
movie is Ghostbusters and my favourite TV show is Doctor
Who. I listen to a wide range of rocky/metal music with some
of the highlights being CKY, DragonForce and U2.
My first booster was the Japanese Booster Chronicles pack
because I was a dumbass and got the wrong one! I did get a
rare Magic Thorns though so it was cool. My first ENGLISH
cards were the Kaiba Starter and my favourite cards are the
Dark Magician of Chaos and the Elemental Monarchs.
D'ya know what really Grinds my Gears? Combos, or more to
the point the lack of combos people play as they focus on
more reactionary plays such as SakAr and common ones such as
Book of Moon then Nobleman of Crossout. I will be attempting
to show some fun and hopefully original combos (someone
somewhere has probably done it before so if you have done it
congrats!)
1) Deadly Goo!
Okay, before I get started here's what the cards do, just to
remind you folks;
SOD-EN018
Malice Doll of Demise
DARK Fiend/4/1600/1700
If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard by the
effect of a Continuous Spell Card, Special Summon this card
from the Graveyard during the Standby Phase of your turn.
SOD-EN043
Ectoplasmer
SPELL
Continuous
Only once during each player’s End Phase, each player
Tributes 1 face-up monster on his/her side of the field and
inflicts damage to the opponent’s Life Points equal to half
the original ATK of the Tributed Monster.
Right, this is a solid Burner Strategy. Malice Doll will do
800 damage per turn if you play your cards right (pun
definitely intended.) Since it comes back during YOUR
Standby Phase it is essentially safe in your Graveyard
unless your opponent removes it somehow,
it'll keep burning and burning. With Ectoplasmer being a
Continuous Spell it is susceptable to M/T removal such as
MST, Heavy Storm etc. This will however draw your opponents
attention away from any previous tactics they had in order
to take out Ecto as it is the easy option to get rid of
before the damage starts to pile up. Magic Reflector could
help with this (it gives it an added layer of protection
from destruction.)
A dedicated Burn Deck could utilize this very effectively
and along with cards such as Stealth Bird, Cannon Soldier,
Curse of Darkness etc. the duel could be over in a matter of
turns.
Too simple a combo? Heard it before? Okay then, try this on
for size.
2) Two Birds, One Stone!
FET-EN022 Gearfried the Swordmaster
LIGHT Warrior/7/2600/2200
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot
be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Release
Restraint". When this card is equipped with an Equip Card,
destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field.
LOD-088 Blast With Chain
Normal Trap
After activation, this card is treated as an Equip Magic
Card. Select 1 monster you control and equip it with this
card to increase the ATK of the selected monster by 500
points. When this card is destroyed by the effect of another
card, select 1 card on the field and destroy it.
Not bad if I do say so myself. It's a 2 for 1 gig, 1 monster
is destroyed from Gearfried's effect and then another CARD
is destroyed by Blast with Chain. Quite an efficient way to
clear the field for a direct attack. Gearfried is vulnerable
given that he can't come back after being destroyed so you
want to take out as many threats as possible. Another option
for this combo is the Divine Sword Phoenix Blade from the
Warrior's Triumph Structure Deck. If you run an enthusiastic
Warrior deck then it should be no trouble to utilize the
Phoenix Blade's recursion potential.
As you've seen the above combos are simple, 2-3 card combos
as there is nothing worse than planning out and gathering
the materials needed for a super-duper-combo of doom and
then it getting blinked out of existence with a stray MST!
On to the final combo.
3) Frogapolooza!
CRV-EN026 Des Frog
WATER/Aqua/5/1900/0
When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can
Special Summon "Des Frog"(s) from your hand or Deck up to
the same number of "T.A.D.P.O.L.E."(s) in your Graveyard.
CRV-EN027 T.A.D.P.O.L.E.
WATER/Aqua/1/0/0
When this card on your side of the field is destroyed as a
result of battle and sent to your Graveyard, you can add any
"T.A.D.P.O.L.E."(s) from your Deck to your hand. Then
shuffle your Deck.
CRV-EN042 Des Croaking
Spell
You can only activate this card when there are 3 face-up
"Des Frog" on your side of the field. Destroy all cards on
your opponent's side of the field.
SOI-JP025
Yomigaeru ("Yomi Frog")
WATER/Aqua/1/100/100
When this card is in your Graveyard at your Standby Phase,
and you don't have Magic/Trap cards on your field, you can
special summon this card to your field. This effect cannot
be activate if a [Yomigaeru] is face-up on your field.
SOI-JP026
Devil Frog
WATER/Aqua/3/1200/800
This card's attack strength is increase by number of
[Tadpole] in your Graveyard * 300.
SOI-JP036
Frog Sandeath
WATER/Aqua/Fusion/8/2500/2000
[Des Frog] + [Des Frog] + [Des Frog]
When this card is Fusion Summon, it can only be done by the
above cards. This card's attack strength would be increase
by 500 for each [Yomigaeru] in your Graveyard.
SOI-JP054
Lost Next
Trap
Choose a face-up monster on your field. Send a monster with
the same name as that monster from your deck into Graveyard.
As you can see this combo is a lot larger and more
complicated than the last two but is a lot more powerful and
destructive in the long run. The combo revolves around the
T.A.D.P.O.L.E. cards as they provide the power for this
combo. Whilst the first three cards are currently available,
the latter ones are in the upcoming Shadow of Infinity set
so you'll have to wait a little while if you want to enact
this combo. Basically the combo revolves around getting the
T.A.D.P.O.L.E.s into the Graveyard ASAP and reaping the
rewards after. You can swarm big time with this combo and a
deck built around it would be an innovative and uncommon one
(I hope someone makes one and does something big like win a
regional tourney with it, that'll show all those clone deck
wannabes (see my previous article for more info.))
Whilst it is very situational, searcher cards such as Sangan
and Mother Grizzly could get;
a) T.A.D.P.O.L.E.s on the field and hence in the Graveyard
faster
or
b) If you have all your T.A.D.P.O.L.E.s in the Graveyard
then get a few Des or Devil Frogs and go to victory!
Well as Bugs Bunny famously said it, "that's all folks!"
Until next time at least )which'll be real soon)
Hope you found this post interesting and may want to try out
some of the above combos or it has at least given you food
for thought about deck ideas or combos of your own.
All comments, deck fixes/ideas/combos etc to the usually

Till next time, Peace Out
