Subject: A Place to Duel + CotD + Spellcaster Burn Deck -
Ezekiel
Hey All!
How's it hangin' out there in Pojoland? Well anywho toady
I'm gonna be discussing (aka super-ranting about) the lack
of a tournament scene in Northern Ireland. D'ya what really
grinds my gears? It sucks! I would give anything to enter a
tourney (even a fun one) but still there is no place to
truely duel. I am jealous of all of you people who have easy
access to card shops and the like and can duel on a regular
basis...
Gather round dear reader for I have something grave and
terrifying to tell you.
Are you listening (reading whatever)
*cough* I have never had a real duel before *cough*
There I've said it, boy that sure was a weight off my
shoulders, because whilst I think I can make reasonable
decks (see the one after this article) I would never-e-ever
get the chance to try it out. The only person I've ever
dueled is my little brother, but try as he may with his
limited grasp of the rules and his dog-earred copy of Barrel
Dragon I just can't find out my potential.
If there is anyone reading this from Northern Ireland please
contact me and tell me where there is place to relax and
duel. I've heard of a place recently that I'm gonna try out
but if there is a sneaky card/collectable shop that rules
regular tourneys etc then please tell me about them 'cos I
sure as hell don't know where they are!
*huff puff*
There now I've got that off my chest lets get down to
business. I'm not sure if this breaks some kind of rule or
anything (if it does I'll stop immediately) but I though I
would start reviewing my own Card of the Day!
I'll pick cards that are near and dear to me and try to show
the world how good they are. Whilst I'll be reviewing some
very well-known and used cards I will try to focus on cards
that rarely see the light of day from a duelists card tin
and I'll see if I can change your mind about it!
If you like the reviews or have any complaints about them
feel free to drop me a line as feedback (both positive and
negative) is always important.
Okey doke then. Drumroll please......todays card of the day
is....
Ante from MFC
MFC 34 - Ante
Normal Spell
"Each player selects 1 card from his/her hand then sees the
Level Stars of the selected cards. The card with more Level
Stars then the other returns to the hand of the player who
selected it. The player who selected the card with fewer
Level Stars takes 1000 damage and sends the card he/she
selected to the graveyard. Selected cards that are not
Monster Cards are treated as Level 0. If both players chose
cards with equal Level Stars return both to the hand of the
players who selected them."
Now I see this card as useful in quite a few ways. Firstly
it gives you a free look at what your opponent has. Granted
you see one card, but they will almost certainly be
selecting their highest level card so it could be one of
their strongest. For instance it is highly doubious that
they would select Magician of Faith as beening level 1 you
would have had to select a spell card...
When you have a powerful monster in hand such as Dark
Magician of Chaos or Sacred Phoenix of Nepthys it would
almost guarantee your success (unless they had one as well.)
This seems to be a solid burner card with little or no
drawnbacks.
The only other way to deal 1000 LP of damage with a single
card would be through Tremendous Fire or Meteor of
Destruction (both with negative side effects)
Now I know this isn't the greatest burn card in the world
and that others exist such as Wave-Motion Cannon, Secret
Barrel, Curse of Darkness or Des Koala, but it has the added
advantage of seeing a card in the opponents hand, very good
for control decks. Also if Des Wombat was on the field when
you activated this you would take no damage anyway so there
would be nothing to lose and everything (aka 1000LP) to gain
over your opponent.
In conclusion, this is an interesting and possibly powerful
card used properly at least in the side deck if not the
main. I personally have this card and hope to use it in an
real duel if I find one *weep*
Traditional - 3.5/5
Advanced - 3/5
Burn Deck - 4.4/5
Art - 2/5 - the card art is either being ironic or just
plain idiotic (unless that is the opponents hand in which
yay!

On a final note, this is a deck that I remade from the ashes
of my old spellcaster deck with more of a burn theme to it.
Feedback welcome, I can take it.
