Subject: "Originality"-Anteaus
OK.
Originality is great, we all know. Great, great, great.
Yeah, whatever. Look, this is going to be short and simple,
ok? Originality is dead. We want to win, we don't care how,
so therefore Originality is dead.
Cheers,
Anteaus
P.S.
That was the short version. Here's the long one:
Duelists are evolving as the game evolves. This simple fact
is known throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe. As I've stated
in other CCG's, the deck makes the duelist, not the other
way around, and this is still true. That's why we have CC,
why we had (quote: had) Chaos, why we saw the disappearance
of Yata-Garasu [I miss the lock :( ]. The decks we use
define who we are, why we play the decks we play. They tell
us how we are in real life (for a sample of this, check out
another CCG that actually explains further on this...it's
really fascinating), and this is crucial because it tells us
that originality is dead.
There are 2 types of decks: Control and more Control.
Control is everything because that is how we win the duel,
either through LP control or Field Control (for future
reference, Field Control also includes Hand Control). It's
kind of difficult to be original in a "Control" deck.
But that's OK. Originality is defined not by the type of
deck you run, but by the cards in that type of deck. I run
3x Mystic Tomato, 3x Newdoria, and a Swarm of
Scarabs/Locusts, not to mention a Des Lacooda. My friend
uses Spellcasters (Jacob, if you're reading this, I hate
your deck so freaking much it's not even funny :), and he
uses a lot of "staples" but he also doesn't. And that's what
I'm getting at, I guess, because this is a little free-form
and off-the-wall and half the time I don't know what the
hell I'm saying, but that's OK, if you're reading this right
now I congratulate you.
Like I said, originality is tech. That's it, no more, no
less. That's the entire point of this CCG Tip:
originality=tech. Most cards are tech anyway, that is until
they become staples.
Cheers,
Anteaus
