Dark Magic Attackers
Yup, the Dark Magician deck! Odds are that anyone
who has even remotely watched Yugioh on TV has
thought about building a deck based around one of
the characters. For me, those character decks were
Kaiba and Bakura (both of which got me decks that
were tougher than you might think). And now, Yugi’s
fav, DM, gets his day in the sun!
Now, before we start, let me make it clear that the
focus here is to have DM on the field. Will he
probably die? Yes. Can we get him back, or at least
have another one to take his place fairly quickly?
Yes. Got it? Good. Let’s move ahead.
Monsters (16)
3 Dark Magician
1 Dark Magician of Chaos
2 Dark Magician Girl
3 Skilled Dark Magician
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 Apprentice Magician
2 Don Zaloog
2 Magician of Faith
SH, quiet! I hear it now…everyone reading this just
cursed at the insane 6-tributes we’re running. Yes,
yes, a big amount for any deck, except maybe Monarch
control. But here’s the beauty of it: all of them
can be special summoned! And that’s what we’re gonna
do! This deck will rely on getting out DM, and
getting him back once he bites the dust. So let’s go
to it!
Really, the DM family is self-explanatory As are
Breaker, Apprentice, and…well okay, pretty much ALL
the monsters are self-explanatory. Let me explain
the ones I didn’t pick.
Dark Magician Knight: I suppose you can sub out Dark
Magician of Chaos and Dedication Through Light and
Darkness for him, but I wouldn’t. He’s a DM, but a
Warrior too, so…no as far as I’m concerned.
Dark Eradicator Warlock AND Sorcerer of Dark Magic:
We already have 6 high-level monsters here! Like we
need more?? Seriously, DEW is just a NOMI version of
DM with a lousy effect. And while the Sorcerer is an
okay idea…I guess, if you really wanna, you could
stick him in. But I wouldn’t: he’s a Nomi, which is
never good, even if he situational Jinzo-effect is
good. In Traditional, run him in a deck built around
him featuring Imperial Order with him, then we’ll
talk.
Spells (15)
1 Sage’s Stone
2 Dark Magic Attack
1 Dedication Through Light and Darkness
1 Graceful Charity
1 Pot of Avarice
2 Nobleman of Crossout
1 Magical Blast
1 Lightning Vortex
1 Swords of Revealing Light
1 Tribute Doll
2 Thousand Knives
Once again, these are mostly self-explanatory.
Magical Blast is pure tech so we can play a Spell
every turn if need be to get our 3rd Spell Counter
for Skilled Dark Magician. Tribute Doll is in case
we have DM in our hand, and want him on the Field
NOW. As for Thousand Knives…well, we need DM on the
Field. But our deck relies on getting DM to the
Field, so big deal! Same with Dark Magic Attack. We
can afford to drop MST, Heavy Storm, etc, because we
have more versatile cards to work with.
Traps (9)
2 Soul Resurrection
2 Magician’s Circle
3 Sakuretsu Armor
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
Soul Resurrection is an odd choice maybe, but it
revive any Normal monster, which DM is. Magician’s
Circle is a staple for this deck. When a Spellcaster
attacks (which we’ll be doing often!), both players
get a 2000 point or lower Spellcaster from their
deck. For us, this amounts to Dark Magician Girl,
SDM, Breaker, etc…for others, this amounts to
Breaker, Apprentice, MOF, and maybe a few others
like Injection Fairy Lily.
