Subject: Decent Chumly Beastdown- A fan
I've read several different ideas for Beastdowns and
a few Chumly koala decks. I made a fairly decent
deck thats good against most decks in mini-tournements
of 40 or less people. It won't kill some of the big
time players, but its ok for a weekend at the local
card shop.
Monsters=23
3x Big Koala
3x Des Kangaroo
1x Behemoth the King of All Animals
3x Des Koala
3x Berserk Gorilla
3x Hyena
1x Chiron the Mage
2x The Earth- Hex-Sealed Fusion
1x Enraged Battle Ox
1x Man-eater Bug
1x The Trojan Horse
1x Magican of Faith
Spells=18
2x Polymerization
1x Snatch Steal
1x Premature Burial
1x Wild Nature's Release
1x Branch!
1x Giant Trunade
1x Swords of Revealing Light
1x Heavy Strom
1x Creature Swap
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Riryoku
1x Scapegoat
1x Back to Square One
1x Megamorph
1x Pot of Avarice
1x Axe of Despair
1x Fusion Recovery
Traps=9
3x Beast Soul Swap
1x Compulsory Evacuation Device
1x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Threatening Roar
1x Trap Hole
1x Call Of The Haunted
1x Torrential Tribute
Fusion Deck=3
3x Master of Oz
I just want to tell you right off the bat, I made
this deck with a limited income. I mean I only
bought a pack of cards every other week. Luckily for
us Beast runners, A lot of duelists (Mainly Choas or
Darkworld I've found) will trade you for these cards
for near worthless cards. Lets start things off with
the strongest Fusion except BEUD, Master of Oz and
the things you need to get him. In and of himself,
Master of Oz is a "meh" card. He has a god-like
attack but no effect means all you get is a giant
beatstick, but an effective one IF you get him on
the field. Big Koala is nothing specail, besides the
fact he has 2700 attack, but needed for MoO. Des
Kangaroo is decent with 1500 attack and 1700 defense
level four monster that beefs up ok with Wild
Nature's Release to 3200. Its effect is good too if
you have it in defense mode and someone attacks with
something with less than 1700 attack (EH Wildheart,
Mirage Dragon, and even other versions of itself to
name a few) attacks it, it destroys it. Des Koala is
another ok card. Most think of it as a decent burn
card (won't argue there) but I see it a something
that also beefs up with Wild Nature's Release nicely
and sneaks under Gravity-Bind. Other than that it
just goes with the Chumly theme.
Behemoth the King of All Animals, the fourth Tribute
monster in this deck, deserves is own deck, but
thats for another another time. 2700 attack with the
abilty to seek out fresh monsters from the
graveyard. Sac two Des Koalas and pick up two
Berserk Gorillas. Or sac The Trojan Horse, get the
full stats and get back just one Beast. Enraged
Battle Ox is the staple of Beastdowns everywhere. It
makes nearly all the monsters in this deck the
nightmares of those who need to hide behind those
four little tokens we lovingly call Scapegoats. Get
this card with MoO and thats game if you get in two
attacks. Nuf said.Hyena is a Giant Rat wanna be. Its
only reason in this deck is to be fodder for
Behemoth or Big Koala.
Now to the spells. Premature Burail, Snatch Steal,
Creature Swap, Giant Trunade, Heavy Strom, Mystical
Space Typhoon, Axe of Despair, and Swords of
Revealing Light are cards you'll see in most decks,
simply because, if you didn't use them, you'd be
retarded. Wild Nature's Release is another card that
only idiots would not put into a deck of this theme.
Sure it kills your monster in the End Phase, But
with MoO and an Enraged battle Ox facing a field of
scapegoats, one hit is all you'll need. Megamorph is
the same, if your life pionts are lower.
Polymerization, Branch!, and Fusion Recovery are
here purely as either MoO items or possible use for
Chiron the Mage if you want to just toss it late in
the game and the only thing keeping you from
attacking is that one or two facedown M/T card(s).
Here we are finally getting to the end with Traps.
Some don't like Beast Soul Swap, I love it. If you
set three and next turn summon a Berserk Gorilla and
attack directly, chain these and swap it for one,
then swap that one for another, then swap that one
for the first or a Des Kangaroo. Sakuretsu Armor,
Compulsory Evacuation Device, Call Of The
Haunted,Torrential Tribute, and Trap Hole are staple
cards that are normally easy to get and are some of
the best traps in the game. As for Threatning Roar,
a pure and simple keep your opponent from attacking
with one of their monsters.
There you are. A fifteen year old's deck thats held
its own against other decks that were thought to be
able to pwn this one, but were pwned rather than
pwning. But this deck needs a little luck to play
with. Just remember, I made this deck for playing at
card shops, not huge events. Have fun everyone and
remember to go play outside some time.
