Subject: Wishful Thinking- Ojamandala
Welcome, all. I'd like to introduce to you the first
in what could be a series of cards that have been
featured in the anime, and which could very well
redefine game play IF they were ever to be released
in reality.
First subject: Ojamandala
Note: Spoilers are ahead for those of you who aren't
yet familiar with the second season of "Yu-Gi-Oh: GX!"
OJAMANDALA
Normal Spell (If I'm not mistaken)
Effect: Pay 1000 Life Points. Special summon one "Ojama
Yellow," "Ojama Green" and "Ojama Black" from your
Graveyard to your field in face-up Attack or Defense
Position.
My reasons for this card to be released in reality
are as follows:
1.) Ojama Delta Hurricane
Quite possibly the most note-worthy reason of all.
Any fan of the Ojamas will tell you how difficult it
is to pull off this seemingly simple move. The
Ojamas, being Normal Monsters with horrendously weak
stats, are not easy to summon to the field unless
backed up by Rescue Cat, Call of the Haunted, Ojama
King/De-Fusion or Shining Angel. Why bother with all
of that, when this one simple card (Ojamandala) will
get all 3 Ojamas on the field in one fell swoop
(provided of course the Ojamas are already in your
Grave)? Two Spell cards + 1000 LP pay = job well
done.
2.) Trib bait
We all know how ridiculously hard it is to get Level
7+ Monsters on the field when they need two (or
sometimes 3) tributes. Have no fear, Ojamandala is…
well, it’s not here. But if it were, tributing for
higher monsters would be all that much easier.
And think about cards like Gilford the Lightning and
Moisture Creature. Both monsters don’t require 3
tribs necessarily, but if possible, Gilford will be
a monster version of Raigeki, while Moisture
creature will be the monster version of Harpies
Feather Duster. Wouldn’t be easy to pull off, I
know… but it wouldn’t be impossible either.
3.) Other Ojama support
Ojamandala could take advantage of other Ojama-friendly
cards out there; case in point: Ojama King moxed
with Ojamuscle. Seriously, does anybody play
Ojamuscle? Not unless there are Ojama Tokens already
on your opponent's field, I'm sure. But picture this
scenario: You have Ojama King on the field, and your
opponent's locked with 3 Ojama Tokens in his Monster
Zones. Play Ojamandala, then Ojamuscle. Bingo: one
O-King pumped up at 6000 ATK points. GAME OVER! (Heh,
maybe not... But it's a nice thought, is it not?)
4.) Defensive Wall?
If you're really in a bind, getting three defensive
Ojamas on the field in one move cold save your game,
for at least three turns. (This technique would be
even sweeter if they would decide to make this card
Quick-Play; that way you can save yourself even as
your opponent is attacking.) Yeah, I know; there's
way too many Trampling going on out there. That's
why this is Option 4 and not Option 1.
So there you go: not one, but several reasons why
Konami should release Ojamandala. Do you agree?
Disagree? Like to add more options? Please fell free
to send some feedback!
And remember, this is just the first of what could
be an on-going series. for my next review: Ojama
Knight. Stay tuned!
