Subject: Breaker vs Chiron - By Demidevil
Why hello there?
You actually clicked your mouse button on this link
for a comparison between Breaker the magical warrior
and Chiron the mage.I'm quite amazed actually, since
I'm only writing this short article to fill my time
*rolls
eyes*
Obviously the point of this text is to detail the
differences and potential strengths that each card
has to add to a deck, although I am certainly not
trying to prove that Breaker does not belong in most
decks or that it should always be replaced by
Chiron, I am simply trying to help the underdog find
a place in some decks.after all everybody loves the
underdog.
----------------
Breaker The Magical Warror
Dark/Spellcaster/Effect
Level 4
When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, put
1 Spell Counter on it (max. 1). Increase the ATK of
this monster by 300 points for each Spell Counter on
the card. Also, you can remove 1 Spell Counter from
this card to destroy 1 Spell Card or Trap Card on
the field.
Chiron the Mage
Earth/Beast-Warrior/Effect
Level 4
Discard 1 Spell Card from your hand. Destroy 1 Spell
or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field.
This effect can only be used once per turn.
-----------------
First of all we had better look at the level of
either monster, both of them are obviously level 4
and have no restrictions on their summoning, which
puts them both on even ground so far.
Breaker is a dark spellcaster, stats that are useful
in many decks. The dark attribute means that it can
be used to feed chaos if it is needed and
spellcaster means that it has support from all of
that spellcaster tech that they have access
to.anyone use a spent breaker to special summon dark
magician with Magical Dimension?
Chiron on the other hand is an Earth/Beast Warrior,
neither of which is particularly splashable in the
current metagame and can only be used in their own
decks. Earth is a strong attribute but in a metagame
infested with Chaos, it cannot be chaos bait like
breaker could be. Beast Warrior gets some support
from the likes of enraged battle ox (1800 piercing)
but other than that cannot really compete unless
based in an earth deck.which this belongs to without
a doubt.
When normal summoned, Breaker gains the famous spell
counter and increases up to 1900 attack where as
Chiron is a respectable 1800 attack when normal
summoned, both of which can destroy many commonly
played cards such as Dekoichi and Don Zaloog for
example.
Unfortunately once breaker uses his single counter
or is special summoned he drops straight down to
1600, which still treads on several commonly played
cards, but Chiron trumps it in this situation with
still holding onto that solid 1800 no matter what
happens.
Now onto the costs that is required to activate
their spell/trap destruction effects. Our faithful
friend breaker only has to discard his counter to
destroy one card, which means that it provides a +1
advantage on activation, however once used he cant
be reused unless he somehow gets another counter
(example being pitch black power stone).
On the other hand, Chiron only produces 1 for 1
trades with its effect and even worse has to get rid
of a spell that was put in the deck to serve a
purpose. However Chiron does change any spell card
into a mystical space typhoon every turn. One way
that you could get round this problem is by using
'magical blast' and return it to your hand instead
of drawing if need be or in traditional you could
even use 'butterfly dagger elma'.
I also believe that Chiron could gain priority over
any *responses* to his summoning, which means that
he can destroy that pesky mirror force before he
even gets bottomlessed, although you don't want to
quote me on that, I really do need to get a official
ruling on this.
Well that's all I can think of for now; feel free to
email me your suggestions on how to improve or even
where I went wrong. In my mind, Breaker is still
superior to Chiron but it can't hurt to give our
beast-warrior friend a run out in casual play can
it?
Until next time,
Demi
