Subject: Oh yeah? Well I don't care that you have
10000 LP! I still won! - DaGman
Hello again party peoples! Today we will be taking a
look at one of my older and recently modified decks,
my Exodia deck!! Yay! Exodia as a decktype has been
losing popularity as of late on the basis of gaining
and maintaining a large hand is difficult and often
a poor play-style. So this Exodia deck will be
focusing on thinning your own deck while providing
stall against your opponent’s deck. Generally this
deck does extremely poorly against burn and deck
control decks, so bear in mind that this is a good
deck against general beatdown, and attack based
decks. Here we go!
Monsters:
The monsters are the main focus of this deck; most
monsters replace each other or disadvantage the
opponent. The other five monsters are Exodia pieces,
so they don’t really count. The “replenishing”
monsters are Nimble Momongas (squirrels!!), Giant
Germs, Troop Dragons, Gravekeeper’s Spys, and Mystic
Tomato. That is the basic idea of this deck, to thin
itself out to allow for the eventual drawing of
Exodia. These monsters maintain field presence while
at the same time keeps the deck active. Lots of
shuffling with this deck! The other few monsters are
there for support. Spirit Reaper is fun for stall
and draws the opponent’s attention. The Emissary of
the Afterlifes brings Exodia pieces to the hand.
(Note: Beware E-Hero style decks that would also
benefit from Emissary’s ability!) The other monster
is a Penguin Soldier who, aside from being an
incredibly cool card, provides great stall for an
opponent’s field that is getting too crowded. As for
Sangan? Well he is a searcher for anything (except
the Emissaries!) in this deck, but more specifically
Exodia pieces.
Spells:
These cards are pretty basic to an Exodia deck, all
eight of them. Swords, Messenger of Peace, The Dark
Door, and Scapegoat all provide extra stall. Heavy
Storm is there just in case you need to stop an
opponent’s spell/traps, whatever they might be.
Graceful Charity is basic draw power, and the Dark
Factory of Mass Production provides an easy way to
retrieve potentially lost Exodia pieces that may
have unfortunately found their way to the graveyard.
(Note: Dark Factory will NOT retrieve the head of
Exodia, so if given the option, you should try to
get the head last when building Exodia as this deck
has no safe way to retrieve in from the graveyard.)
The last spell is Premature Burial, which is able to
revive a spent Sangan or Emissary of the Afterlife
for another go at its effect.
Traps:
Not too many traps in this deck either, just seven.
Gravity Bind is further stall. Both Good Goblin
Housekeepings provide for just basic draw and a
potential way to trick your opponent into wasting an
MST or a Breaker. Backup Soldier is also quite
capable of retrieving lost Exodia pieces; though it
cannot get the head back either. Call of the Haunted
has the same purpose as Premature Burial, which is
to revive a spent Sangan or Emissary. Magic Jammer
prevents a potentially lethal Card Destruction or DD
Designator, so it must be used cautiously. The last
trap is Sakuretsu Armor, but if you have a Mirror
Force, you should use that. Sakuretsu is one last
chance to destroy an opponent’s monster you don’t
like, for example, a Horus lv8 that might be
terrorizing your monsters.
