Deck Building Guide for Grand Format
For those players worried about how much more
complex Grand Format is in comparison to Advanced
Format, here is a guide to building a Deck using
Grand Format.
Building a Grand Format Deck is actually a lot
easier than it looks. As long
as you take it step by step, the only issue is that
it takes longer for players to complete an initial
construction in Grand Format than in Advanced
Format.
First, a player should take into mind that there are
going to be differences i n game play between
Advanced Format and Grand Format. (Less field
removal, appearances of new card combos and
unconventional strategies, etc.)
Second, a player should decide what kind of
strategies or themes he/she would like to run in
his/her Deck. (Burn/Stall, Type-Support/Fusion,
Beat-down/Control, etc.)
Third, a player should decide whether or not any of
the Forbidden Cards would be useful in his/her Deck
or Side Deck, if he/she decides to use one at all.
This may or may not affect any of the next three
steps depending on what Forbidden Card the player
uses.
Fourth, a player should decide which of the Limited
Cards would support his/her Deck best. The player
should also take into consideration whether or not
the cards he/she chooses work well together.
Fifth, a player should decide which of the
Semi-Limited Cards would support his/her Deck best.
The player should again take into consideration
whether or not the cards he/she chooses work well
together.
Sixth, a player must construct the rest of his/her
Deck with cards not on the restricted list. The
restricted card list is in alphabetical order.
Therefore
all a player needs to do is look at the card name of
a card he/she wishes to
add and then check to see if it is on the restricted
list in the sections it
would be in if it is restricted.
Seventh, a player should ask him/herself if the
cards he/she has chosen work
well together.
This may be more tedious but Grand Format is
designed for experienced players who are used to
doing some actual thinking about their Deck
construction rather than copy another player's list
using the internet.
