I've been looking for advice on how to improve some
of my decks lately, and the one thing that shocked
me the most is the lack of traps in most decks that
I've seen.
People always focus on the negatives of traps like
the fact that they must be set first, or that Jinzo
negates them. Setting them is an ADVANTAGE! Jinzo is
rarely played these days because decks don't run
enough traps. Use this to your advantage. Many
people that I have seen don't have Jinzo in their
decks or side decks. "It's not worth buying if you
won't use it," they say. You can make this their
downfall.
When I see six traps in a deck, I laugh. Traps are
the most important part of a deck. I once had a deck
with 20 traps, 8 spells, and only 12 monsters. It
won almost every duel it faced. Granted, none of my
opponents were world champion material, but that was
irrelevant. They attack, bam, Sakuretsu Armor. Bam,
Compulsary Evacuation Device. Even my monsters
suprised them... Hyper Hammerhead, Gale Lizard,
Gravekeeper's Guard, Man Eater Bug. Everything went
to the graveyard or their hand. Then I pop my
Ceasefire, lay down Dark Hole and Autonomous Action
Unit, and the game is mine.
So use those traps. an unexpected Reinforcements is
quite shocking when no one plays them anymore.
