twas the night before the
tourney.............. --pwii
A Christmas poem
‘Twas the night before the tourney
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
‘Cept my lectronic mouse
For I was on gameking
Researching my decks
And deciding which one
Would be better then best
I finally decided
On running dark world
When I woke up to find
My mom’s ironing curl
It was in her hand
While tapping my back
And I heard her saying
‘In punctuation you lack’
‘For it is ten minutes till
The yugithing starts’
So I flew out the door
With half a pop-tart
Armed only with my deckbox
And a half asleep mind
I ran as fast as I could
Hoping I’d be on time
When I finally arrived
My face was a mess
My jeans three days worn
But I was a-blessed
Because I had five minutes
‘Till the tourney did start
Time enough for preparing
And Mario kart
Then when the dueling
Finally began
I was tense as can be
As I shook my foe’s hand
The game went downhill
Faster than my LP
I’d had no idea
How nervous one could be
And as the attack
That ended the game was declared
Something clicked in me
And my sirens did flare
I had been so focused
On winning instead
Of having fun
I was turning red
I said good game
And I played the next one
With vigor at the prospect
Of having fun
Before I knew it
The tourney was over
I had won thirty dollars
And a worn out lawnmower
And as I sit and think
On the couch at home
While I was so happy
And tired to the bone
I woke up and realized
It had been a dream
So I got all ready
And changed my jeans
When I remember the dream
On my way to the store
That was hosting the match
I think ‘what was the lawnmower for?’
Happy Christmas
