Constructing an Insect Deck: Part two: Spells and Traps

In any deck many spells and trap cards are considered “staple cards” or cards that should be in every deck, and these are some cards that do belong in just about any deck, many will make it to the final selection for deck construction in part three of this article:

Graceful Charity

Heavy Storm

Noblemen of Crossout

Premature Burial

Scapegoat

Last Will

Mystical Space Typhoon

Book of Moon

Pot of Avarice

Creature Swap

Confiscation

Smashing Ground/Fissure

Swords of Revealing Light

Mirror Force

Sakuretsu Armor

Call of The Haunted

Torrential Tribute

Bottomless Trap Hole

Enemy Controller

These cards will not all make it, because the only TRUE staple card in this game is Graceful Charity, and second would be most likely Sangan. You must carefully select which spells will help you based on the cards you are using. In this specific deck there will be a great number of monsters used, especially search monsters so Creature Swap may be a great selection, however if you don’t use many search monsters, Creature Swap may not be the best choice.

Insect Imitation: This is probably the best insect support spell card there is. What’s it do? You tribute a monster from your side of the field to special summon an insect monster of one level higher then the monster you tributed. But there is more. You can put it in face up attack position or face down defense position. This means that if you tribute Magical Merchant for Man-Eater Bug, you may place him face down when you special summon the new monster. This spell card makes a great choice to use in any insect deck.

Level Limit Area-B and Gravity Bind: Insect monsters, like real insects are small. Most of them are under level 4, so that makes insects even more powerful. You can keep your Swarm of Scarabs or Locusts safe from attacks while using Aerosol Bug to do major damage to your opponent’s life points. Howling Insect is also a great choice because he is also level 3. Sure in an insect deck you want to use Doom Dozer still, because his massive power and easy summoning effect will be useful if your opponent destroys your defensive back field.

Mask of Restrict: Besides Insect Imitation and maybe a few big insect monsters, there isn’t much tributing done with an insect deck, and with Jinzo and the monarchs roaming this card should be used in any insect deck. This card is very good and can easily be abused. IT even stops Exiled Force, so your opponent will be unable to blow up your swarm of scarabs or swarm of locusts.

Next time we’ll finish the constructed deck.
