July 2007 Remember the fun- Skip Martin
Hi, my name is
Skip and I have been playing yugioh since MRD came
out. Even with all of the dueling experience I've
gained over the years, I've yet to win my local
tournament. I top eighted 2-3 times during the IOC
days, but that's about it. Why would that be?
Winning is not everything to me. I would rather have
a blast playing instead of winning. The reason I
bring this up is because I feel that people have
forgotten to have fun. If you ask anyone at any
tourney why they entered, I bet they will say they
came to win. Winning is fun, but doesn't it get a
little boring playing against the same decks over
and over? The most memorable duels I've had were
against other people like me, the people who paid $5
for an afternoon's worth of entertainment. So I want
all of you to think back to what made the game fun
in the first place and try out a few new Ideas every
once in a while. You can run cookie-cutters if you
want, but you don't need to win every week, do you?
Once every 1 or 2 months try out a new idea and have
fun, then come back the next week with your usual
routine. You'll be glad for the breaks you take.
