A few forgotten cards that may be useful - Master of
Shadows
Hello, once again, people. Master of
Shadows is back with another seemingly useless
article on useless cards. Before I begin, I'd just
like to say that these seemingly useless cards can
often work for your benefit, even though they may
not seem like it. Let's begin, shall we?
Conscription
Normal Trap
Effect: Pick up the top card of your opponent's
Deck. If the picked-up card can be Normal Summoned,
Special Summon it to your side of the field. If not,
add that card to your opponent's hand.
That last part of the effect will be a deterrent to
its use, but think of it in this manner. Most of the
time, people will be dueling in mirror matches,
meaning that their opponent will be using virtually
the same cards, the same monsters, and the like,
meaning you could potentially get a card from them
that you need. If it picks up something that would
get added to their hand, that's what that face-down
Mind Crush you have set is for. If their hand size
was at 3 before Conscription, it will be afterwards,
meaning a Trap Dustshoot is in order, but enough of
that.
Protector of the Sanctuary
Earth / Fiend / level 4 / 1100 / 1900
Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the
field, your opponent cannot draw a card(s) except
during Draw Phase.
That seems like a good effect, but the stats kill
it. "Play it in defense mode, right?" Wrong. By the
time it gets flipped, the opponent could've drawn
through half their deck already. Playing it in
attack mode is the first part of playing this right.
The second part is having some type of protection to
back it up and keep it on the field. The
draw-killing effect will really slow things down for
your opponent. Just beware of decks that love to run
over your monsters (or Gladiator Beasts, which would
love to see this thing in defense mode).
Sorry for this being so short, but I'm strapped for
time. If you have any questions, comments,
suggestions, or requests, just send them to

Until next time....
